The hospital was quiet, but with a suffocating stillness.

Horace had been pulled back from the brink of death, only to lie in a VIP room, staring at the ceiling, his mind a chaotic mess.

Rachel hurried towards Horace's room, carrying a container of fresh food.

Just as she reached the door, she heard voices inside—it was Mrs. Spencer's.

She peered through the small window and saw Horace sitting up against the headboard.

Overjoyed, Rachel was about to push the door open when she heard the name “Zephyra,” freezing her in place.

“Horace, please listen to me! You and Zephyra aren't right for each other. Her heart isn't with you. Why do you insist on forcing it? You're only hurting yourself in the end. Can't we just listen to the doctors and focus on your treatment?”

Mrs. Spencer wiped away a tear. In her eyes, Zephyra was at least partly to blame for Horace's condition, and she wanted nothing more to do with her.

Horace's lips trembled, but he stubbornly forced out the words, “Mom, this is my business. I know what I'm doing!”

Hearing this, Rachel couldn't take it anymore and pushed the door open.

“Horace, wake up! Zephyra got her memory back a long time ago. And she's back with Steven!”

At her words, the color drained from Horace's already pale face, leaving it ashen.

He jerked his head up, his eyes filled with disbelief and rage. “You're lying! Zephyra… she wouldn't…”

Rachel stared at him, her expression blank. “I told her everything before your accident. She knew the truth about Steven.”

“And even so, she chose to stay with him. She even said she never wanted to see us again. Horace, Zephyra is heartless. You ended up like this because of her, and she hasn't come to see you once!”

“She's not the person we used to know. Horace, stop thinking about her. Please, just cooperate with the doc—”

Before Rachel could finish, Horace cut her off with an icy command. “Shut up!”

He glared at Rachel, his eyes sinister. “I know what kind of person Zephyra is better than you do. Steven must be threatening her, forcing her to stay with him.”

“No, I have to see her. I have to get her away from Steven.”

With that, Horace suddenly threw off the blanket and tried to get up, only to find that his legs wouldn't respond at all!

His eyes widened, and his voice trembled. “My legs… What's happened to them?”

Seeing this, Mrs. Spencer said nothing, only lowering her head to cry silently, unable to look at the despair in her son's eyes.

Rachel rushed to Horace's side, placing her hands gently on his shoulders in a comforting gesture.
