As soon as Ryan finished speaking, Steven's calm expression clouded over with anger. “Ryan, watch your mouth. I dare you to say another word of that nonsense.”
Steven's voice wasn't loud, but it carried a weight that made everyone who heard it shudder.
Before Ryan could reply, a stern, deep voice sounded from behind them.
“Such big words. I'd like to see what you can do.”
Uncle Julian leaned on his cane with both hands, his face grim as he stared at Steven.
Steven's expression didn't change. He bowed slightly. “Uncle Julian!”
“Stop,” Uncle Julian said, displeased. “I have no nephew by the name of Lancaster.”
“I don't care how you throw your weight around in the Lancaster family, but this is the Lopez family. You have no right to yell and shout here!”
Steven didn't argue, and Uncle Julian continued to berate him with harsh words.
Watching him stand there, head bowed, respectfully taking the scolding, I found it almost funny. He never even listened to his own parents, always talking back to them. Yet here he was, being so obedient in front of my Uncle Julian.
If Mary saw this, she would probably lose her mind.
The head of security and seven or eight guards stood to the side, looking like they wanted nothing more than to clock out for the night.
During a pause in Uncle Julian's lecture, the security chief finally managed to interject, “Mr. Lopez, if there's nothing else, we'll be heading back!”
Uncle Julian shot him a look that froze the air. “Call the police,” he ordered. The chief looked uncertain. “Are you serious, sir? If we call the police, he'll most likely be taken into custody. That…”
I knew Uncle Julian's temper well enough. If he said he was going to put Steven away, he wasn't joking.
He had his own team of lawyers. Even though Steven had only climbed a wall, if those lawyers argued the case aggressively, Steven would definitely get tied up in legal trouble.
The shareholders at Aether Studio were already restless, always looking for an excuse to stir up trouble.
If Steven really got caught up in this, those people would surely use it as an excuse to try and take him down.
Wait, why was I even thinking about this?
Even if they did manage to oust him, it had nothing to do with me.
Uncle Julian said emotionlessly, “I never joke. Mr. James, please follow standard procedure and call the police now.”
