I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 94

A mocking smile touched Steven’s lips. “You’re right. You should eat more.” With that, he added a large, garlic-laden scallop to my plate.

I was speechless. The jerk was deliberately picking out everything I hated.

Suddenly, a thought struck me. It was strange. How did Steven know what foods I disliked? He couldn’t have guessed them all correctly by chance, could he?

I frowned, lost in thought. By the time I snapped out of it, my plate was piled high with food I couldn’t stand, especially the cilantro.

I was going to kill him.

His grandfather was frugal and hated seeing food wasted. So, while the variety of dishes was large, the portions of each were small. Steven showed me no mercy, and I showed him none in return. We spent the rest of the meal waging a passive-aggressive war with our chopsticks. His grandfather watched the whole exchange with a delighted grin, thoroughly entertained.

“Now, this is more like it,” he chortled. “Isn’t there a dessert soup in the kitchen? Bring it out for them. Oh, and go prepare their room.”

My heart seized. “Grandfather, why do you need to prepare a room?”

He waved a dismissive hand. “It’s late. It’s not safe for you to drive back. You’re staying here tonight.”

What? That meant sharing a bed with Steven.
