Chapter 499 Everyone Was Miserable

Nina looked pitiful as she cried and covered her mouth.

Daniel stared at her, forced down his panic, and asked again, “Nina, did you really not eat any?”

Nina shook her head hard and babbled, “No.”

The two were still in the bathroom, and Alice, in the ward, was frantic, too.

She couldn’t speak, but she could hear perfectly well.

She’d heard Nina might have touched strawberries-and she knew all about Nina’s allergy.

Alice let out a quiet “ah”.

She tried to speak but could only make that single sound.

Alice fumbled with one-handed signs, desperate to get out of bed.

“Ms. Harrison, please stay calm.” The doctor wouldn’t let her get up.

But Alice was stubborn; she had to see Nina.

A wheelchair was in the room, and the doctor finally helped her into it.

By the time Alice reached them, Daniel had carried Nina out of the bathroom.

Nina leaned backward in his arms, refusing to let him hold her.

Daniel was worn out after all the chaos.

He set Nina down and went back to talk to the doctor.

Daniel said worriedly, “I made her throw up, and she didn’t eat any strawberries. But she touched them.

“The cake might have had strawberry juice on it, too. She’s deathly allergic-I’m still scared she got a tiny bit in her system.”

Daniel was deeply worried and couldn’t quite relax.

He asked, “Can we run a test for her? I won’t feel at ease until I see the test results.”

The doctor understood a parent’s fear and agreed right away.

The test required blood work-most kids’ tests use venous blood, but Nina wouldn’t cooperate.

Daniel called Amelia. She was already on set filming and couldn’t stop work.

If she paused, the whole crew would have to wait.

All actor scenes were scheduled ahead of time; she couldn’t rearrange things at the last minute.

She could only follow Nina’s condition over the phone.

Amelia said, “Ask the doctor carefully-some tests only need a finger prick, not a vein draw.

“Benjamin’s on his way right now. If you can’t handle her alone, wait for him.”

Daniel’s heart sank when he heard Benjamin was coming. “How much longer?”

Amelia replied, “He should be there soon. Don’t panic.”

Daniel said; “I… I’m not panicking.”

But Benjamin was clearly panicking.

Benjamin rushed over so fast that he was still wearing his suit.

As soon as Nina saw him, she ran over on chubby legs.

She threw her arms around his leg and sobbed, “Daddy, Nina yucky. Un-coo Dan’el hit Nina mouf. Nina cry.”

Nina had cried so hard earlier that she could barely sob anymore.

But her tiny voice was hoarse and shaky, like she was about to burst into tears again.

Benjamin bent down and lifted her up.

Nina wrapped her arms tight around his neck the second she was in his hold.

She pressed her chubby face into his neck and said sadly, “No play with Un-coo Dan’el., Daddy, out?”

Nina didn’t want to stay in the hospital anymore.

She wanted Benjamin to take her out.

Benjamin held her with one arm and cradled the back of her head with the other.

He bent down and kissed her still-reddened cheek. “We’ll go out soon.”

Benjamin comforted Nina, then took her for the test.

Even with Benjamin there, Nina refused to behave.

When they carried her to the blood lab, she started throwing a fit before the needle even came near her- she’d watched other kids get blood drawn.

Nina squirmed in his arms and cried, “Daddy, go home? Grandpa?”

She tried to wriggle free, desperate to leave.

Benjamin held her tight and explained, “We just need a quick test, then we can go home. Be good, and the doctor will be super gentle.

“She’ll only take a tiny bit of blood. You’re the bravest girl ever, right?
