Chapter 535 Come Looking for Ruth
She asked, “Nina, you done playing yet? It’s time for bed. Mommy’s gonna turn the lights off.”
Amelia reached to switch off the lamp, but Nina didn’t even glance back as she mumbled, “No. Mommy Nina play.”
Nina wasn’t ready to stop and wanted to keep playing.
Amelia saw how focused she was and gave her a few extra minutes.
Just a few minutes later, though, Nina tossed the Superman toy-the one she couldn’t get the arm to stay on -onto the floor and picked up her toy gun instead.
She showed no sign of settling down to sleep at all.
Amelia let out a quiet sigh. “Benjamin, turn the lights off.”
The second Amelia told Benjamin to switch the light off, Nina’s voice rang out loud and clear. “Ben, tuwn wight on.”
Nina liked calling Benjamin “Ben” sometimes.
She’d randomly blurt out the nickname for no reason now and then.
Everyone in the family always ignored her when she did that.
They knew if they replied, she’d only get more hyper and keep rambling.
In the dark, Nina called out for Ben several times with no answer.
She pouted and grabbed her toy gun to play by herself in the dim room.
Amelia didn’t bother stopping her.
Nina was much bigger now; she’d eventually fall asleep on her own while playing.
She wasn’t like when she was little, needing to be held and rocked to sleep every night.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Amelia noticed Nina go completely quiet in the dark.
She’d drifted off, still clutching her toy.
After Nina fell asleep, Amelia gently took the toy from her hand and set it aside. She fixed Nina’s little body into a comfortable sleeping position, then lay back to rest.
The three of them fell asleep one after another, all sleeping soundly through the night.
Nina slept straight through till morning. When she woke up, Benjamin and Amelia were curled up together on one side of the bed, leaving her all alone on the other.
She didn’t like that one bit.

Chapter 535 Come Looking for Ruth
Nina squeezed herself right into the middle between them and lay there quietly for a moment.
Benjamin and Amelia still hadn’t woken up, and lying there alone quickly bored Nina.
She climbed out of bed soon after.
It was another school day, and Nina threw her usual little fit about going to Sunbeam Daycare. Her protest didn’t work, though, and a teacher carried her inside once again.
All the other kids crowded around Nina as usual-only one new little girl was too shy to come near her
If the new girl wouldn’t approach Nina, Nina would go over to her.
Thanks to Nina taking the initiative, the new kid warmed up to her and joined their group in less than half a day.
Nina ran around and played all day at daycare wildly. She was just about to head over to Lucien’s house after school when Lucille called again.
She said, “Nina, Friday, the day after tomorrow-are you still going to Sunbeam Daycare?”
Nina didn’t even have to think before she yelled out her answer, “No.”
She never wanted to go to daycare any day of the week.
Lucille said, “That’s perfect then. I don’t have classes on Friday, so I’ll leave that day. I’ll get to the train station at three fifty Friday afternoon, and I’ll come find you right after I arrive. Nina, do you miss me?”
“Yeah.” Nina’s mouth was always sweet. “Auntie Lucywee, here?”
“Not yet, sweetie.” Lucille couldn’t hold back an excited giggle, thinking about leaving soon.
Nina heard her laughing and giggled right along with her.
The two smiled and laughed at each other through the call, looking utterly adorable.
Once they hung up, Nina headed straight over to Lucien’s place.
The second she walked in, she tilted her head and asked, “Where Ruth?”
Nina hadn’t come to see Lucien today-she’d come looking for Ruth.
“She’s inside the house,” the maid at Morris Villa replied right away.
Nina knew her way around the villa perfectly well. She didn’t wait for the maid to lead her and trotted straight into the house on her own.
Last time Nina saw Ruth, she had been messy and dirty all over. This time, Ruth looked completely different.
She was cleaned up neatly and dressed in pretty clothes. Her face was still a little thin with not much baby fat, but her delicate, pretty features were impossible not to admire.
Nina’s eyes lit up the second she spotted her, and she ran over to wrap her arms around Ruth. “Ruth.”
