Chapter 537 Froze in Quiet Surprise
Ruth suffered from sleepwalking every night.
Her episodes were nothing like ordinary sleepwalking, though.
Most sleepwalkers wandered around doing strange things-Ruth only ever did one thing: looking for her mom, dad, and older sister.
She’d search around until she couldn’t find them, then start crying with her eyes still closed.
After crying for a little while, she’d climb back into bed and fall asleep again.
She went through this same restless routine every single night.
Lucien slept in the same room with her. Whenever Ruth started sleepwalking, he’d gently take hold of her small hand. “Ruth, go back to sleep.”
The moment Lucien spoke, Ruth would lie back down obediently.
The Morris family had already brought a doctor to check on her.
The doctor said Ruth’s condition was caused by severe emotional shock, and she needed slow, gentle care to recover fully.
Ruth had no idea she was unwell at all. She was actually quite happy staying at Morris Villa.
Right then, the two little girls were running around spraying each other with big water guns, and Lucien stood nearby keeping an eye on them.
He smiled, “Nina, don’t step in the water.
“Ruth, don’t get your clothes all wet.
“Nina, stay out of the pool.”
Playing guardian to two hyper little girls kept Lucien constantly busy.
He was tugging one back one minute, checking on the other the next, running around nonstop.
After playing for a good while, the kids went inside for dinner.
For once, Nina didn’t need anyone to feed her.
She watched Ruth eating on her own and decided to do the same.
The little girls ate side by side, like they were in a little eating contest.
It was the first time Benjamin had ever had such an easy mealtime with Nina.
After dinner, Benjamin took Nina home.
As usual, Nina refused to leave, and Benjamin had no choice but to pick her up and carry her away.

Nina stayed full of energy all the way until half past eight that night.
Before bedtime, Benjamin and Amelia leaned against the headboard, neither of them touching their phones.
They couldn’t anyway-Nina would snatch their phones away the second they pulled them out
Amelia read through her script while Benjamin looked over printed documents.
They each did their own thing, chatting softly to each other every now and then.
Nina played with her toys quietly on her own.
Sometimes she’d bring her toys over and ask Benjamin and Amelia to play with her.
Their nightly bedtime routine was always simple and unchanging.
That night was a little different, though.
Nina had forgotten to tattle about her pinched finger earlier in the day.
In the middle of the night, she suddenly sat up in bed, her hair messy and tousled. She rubbed her sleepy eyes, then crawled slowly over toward Benjamin and Amelia.
“Daddy. Mommy,” Nina called out to them softly.
Benjamin and Amelia were fast asleep and didn’t respond.
Nina looked a little dazed, all alone. She lifted her small palm and patted Benjamin awake.
She couldn’t bring herself to hit Amelia, so she leaned over and gave her a tiny nibble instead.
Both Benjamin and Amelia were jolted fully awake.
Amelia wiped the drool Nina had left on her cheek and mumbled sleepily, “What’s wrong? Do you need to go to the bathroom?”
Nina usually slept straight through the whole night.
As long as she didn’t drink water before bed, she never needed to get up at night.
Amelia was still half-asleep and couldn’t remember if Nina had drunk anything earlier.
‘She urged Benjamin quietly, “Benjamin, take her to the bathroom.”
Benjamin sat up, ready to lift Nina into his arms-when Nina suddenly held up her sore little finger. “Daddy, hand hurt. Mommy, hurt.”
She held her finger up for them to see, and before either Benjamin or Amelia could say a word, overwhelming tiredness washed over her. She flopped right back down and fell asleep instantly.
Benjamin sat there frozen, and Amelia stared blankly as well.

The two were left utterly speechless.
Luckily, that was the only interruption in the night.
Benjamin and Amelia closed their eyes again and drifted back to sleep quickly.
The next day was Thursday.
When it was time to send Nina to Sunbeam Daycare, she threw a huge fit and refused to go.
