Chapter 536 Reliable Older Brother
Wyatt continued, “Her uncle claimed her older sister had mental health issues and sent her off to a psychiatric hospital.
“I’ve already sent people to get her sister out. She should be released in the next few days.”
What Wyatt talked about was far from rare among wealthy families.
Wealthy clans did have family bonds, but not every household held onto that kind of affection.
It was clear the Morris family planned to step in and take charge of Ruth’s affairs.
Benjamin glanced over at Nina, who was cuddled up beside Ruth, and spoke in a calm tone, “Let me know if you need any extra help with anything.”
Wyatt smiled, “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely reach out if I can’t handle things on my own.”
The two families weren’t blood relatives, yet they shared an extremely close bond.
William and Vincent had always been good friends, and Lucas and Daniel were like brothers, too.
Among the younger generation, Nina and Lucien were incredibly fond of each other as well.
They didn’t need blood ties or arranged marriages. Whenever either side needed a hand, a simple word was
all it took.
The grown-ups chatted casually off to the side.
Wyatt brought up Ruth’s uncle specifically.
He said, “Her uncle’s name is Rodney Hewitt. He always comes off as warm and generous. He’s constantly doing charity work and donating to local orphanages, so he has a flawless public reputation.
“If it weren’t for what happened with Ruth, even I would’ve never guessed it was all just for show.”
Wyatt had dug deeper into the matter and uncovered the truth about Rodney’s real character.
He said, “Hypocrites like him are always the most scheming ones. I won’t let him anywhere near Ruth now.
“He ignored her completely for two whole months, clearly hoping she’d fend for herself and waste away alone.
“Ruth’s lucky she survived those two months all by herself without any harm coming to her.”
Wyatt let out a long sigh as he spoke about Ruth, his voice full of sympathy.
His heart ached deeply for the poor little girl.
Ruth’s parents had only just bought property here not long ago. He’d never gotten to know the family well, nor had he crossed paths with them before.
He wished he’d met them sooner-he could’ve rescued Ruth much earlier.

Benjamin had a daughter of his own.
The moment he heard Ruth had lived alone for two months, his eyes drifted instinctively toward Nina who was sull munching on her hot dog.
Nina happened to look up right then.
Seeing Benjamin staring at her, she trotted over quickly and held out the leftover hot dog bun to him. “Daddy, eat.”
Benjamin stared at the plain bun with no filling left inside. He paused for two seconds, then bent down and took a bite anyway.
Nina giggled happily watching him eat it.
She turned and ran back to grab another hot dog, and Benjamin sighed.
If Nina ever had to live all alone…
I couldn’t bear it even for two days, let alone two months.
Even if I were gone, I’d still linger as a ghost just to watch over her.
Becoming a father had softened Benjamin’s once cold heart. Now, whenever he saw a poor child, his mind instantly drifted to Nina, filling him with sympathy.
Benjamin did plenty of charity work privately.
He’d set up the Nina Foundation, an organization dedicated entirely to helping disadvantaged children.
Daniel was often lazy about his regular job, but he threw himself wholeheartedly into running the foundation.
While the adults felt sorry for Ruth, Nina and Ruth finished their hot dogs. They held hands tightly and started playing the game of taking apart toy car wheels.
Lucien had brought out all his own toy cars for them.
He’d always cherished those little cars deeply before.
Now he let Nina and Ruth take them apart however they pleased, no complaints at all
Nina said, “Ruth, hand.”
Taking off the wheels wasn’t as easy as Nina thought. She’d never tried it before, and she accidentally pinched her little finger in the process.
Her nail turned purple from the squeeze.
She held up her sore hand, eyes welling up with tears as she looked over at Ruth.
Ruth leaned in and blew gently on her hurt finger to soothe the pain.

Nina still looked upset and ready to go tattle to Benjamin.
Ruth held her back quickly. “Have this.”
She handed Nina her own tiny toy tool.
Nina sniffled softly and took the small wrench.
She decided to play a little longer before running to complain.
