Chapter 539 The Envy of Everyone
Amelia sometimes slipped a few snacks into Nina’s bag, and sometimes she didn’t bother at all.
Nina never went hungry at Sunbeam Daycare, no matter what.
When the school day ended, Daniel showed up to pick her up.
He caught Nina the second she ran out the gate and lifted her straight into his arms, then leaned down to kiss her chubby cheek.
Nina was totally used to Daniel’s routine now.
She used to cry over it, but not anymore.
She’d push his face away firmly and warn him, “No bite Nina chwwk.”
If Daniel tried kissing her again after her warning, she’d open her mouth and bite him right back.
She bit Amelia softly the other night-but with Daniel, she bit hard enough to make him hiss and beg for
mercy.
He said, “Nina, no more biting. I’m sorry. Oh, that hurts.”
Once Daniel gave in, Nina let go of his face.
Still, a clear row of tiny tooth marks was left on his cheek.
With Nina still in his arms and the tooth marks still on his face, Daniel didn’t head straight home.
He took Nina to meet Alice for dinner instead.
Alice had recovered greatly from her injury.
She could walk on her own now, only needing a cane for extra support.
Her legs were healing fast, and she’d started making more little sounds, too-slowly learning to talk all over again.
Daniel had been spending most of his free time keeping Alice company lately, which meant less time at home.
Even so, he always made time to drop Nina off and pick her up every day.
Nina was overjoyed when he carried her to see Alice.
She stopped trying to bite Daniel entirely and showered his cheek with kisses instead.
It wasn’t long before Daniel and Nina arrived at the restaurant.
Alice missed Nina dearly as well, waiting for her at the entrance, leaning on her cane.
The moment they met, Nina spoke to Alice in her sweet voice, “Nina miss you.”

Chapter 539 The Envy of Everyone
Alice’s eyes were bright with warmth at her sweet words.
After charming Alice, Nina hurried over and tugged her cane away, insisting on holding it for her.
She clutched the cane tightly and ran straight into the restaurant to help. Alice stood there watching her chubby back, feeling helpless and fond all at once.
She was about to hobble slowly inside on her own when Daniel simply lifted her up into his arms.
Alice froze, cheeks flushing shyly.
Her first instinct was to wriggle down, too embarrassed to be carried like that.
Daniel paid no mind to her bashfulness, though.
He held her securely and carried her straight to their reserved table.
Nina was wandering around the restaurant playing with the cane when she spotted Daniel holding Alice.
She trotted over quickly, eyes wide with curiosity. “Un-coo Dan’el, why hold?”
Daniel smiled warmly and pulled her onto his lap. “I like holding her. Can’t I do that?”
Nina sat upright on his lap, dead serious. “No.”
Daniel laughed even harder at her stern expression and teased her further, “Why not? She’s my girlfriend.”
Nina fell quiet for a few seconds, stuck for words.
After a moment, she blurted out her reply firmly. “Mine! My honey.”
Daniel’s eyes widened in surprise. He instantly covered her mouth with his hand to hush her. “No, she’s not yours. She’s my honey.”
“Mine.” Nina pried his hand away, pouting and protesting loudly.
The two were already on the verge of bickering when Alice quickly pulled Nina over to sit beside her on the cushioned bench.
Nina immediately wrapped her arms around Alice tightly and planted two loud kisses on her cheek.
She then turned to glance over at Daniel with a proud look.
Daniel stared at her playfully. “Nina, you’re challenging me now, aren’t you?”
He leaned in and kissed Alice’s cheek right back.
Nina’s eyes widened, lifting her palm ready to swat him.
Before she could land a hit, though, Daniel pulled her into his arms and showered her chubby face with playful kisses.
“No!” Nina squirmed wildly, trying to break free.
