A man at the helm of the mighty Ferguson Group, willing to sacrifice the company’s interests for a woman.
It was proof that he was so consumed by his emotions he had lost all reason. If he was willing to sacrifice Ferguson Group's bottom line, he certainly wouldn't spare a thought for someone as inconsequential as her.
Mrs. Windsor patted her chest. “Thank goodness you warned me. Otherwise, I would have let that little tramp Celia talk me into going after that Watkins woman.”
Marcia was also relieved she had arrived in time. “Mom, Mrs. Quinn is Ann’s aunt; she has a grudge against both Mr. Ferguson and Dr. Watkins. And that Celia is nothing but a troublemaker. You need to stay far away from them from now on.”
As Marcia led her mother away, Celia, who had been eavesdropping from a distance, slowly emerged from behind a tree.
No wonder Marcia was in such a hurry to retreat. York had already made his move against the Quinns. Claudia was certainly clear-headed, pulling out at just the right time.
Celia’s heart filled with bitterness. It was because of that bitch Claudia that her grandmother still refused to let her father officially recognize her as part of the Shaw family. The hatred burned inside her.
But now, even the Quinn and Windsor families were backing down. As an unacknowledged illegitimate daughter, what chance did she have? York could crush her without a second thought. After some deliberation, Celia decided it was best to lie low and see how things played out.
As she left the park, she ran into Claudia and one of her colleagues.
Claudia’s expression instantly turned cold upon seeing her.
“Dr. Watkins, don’t look at me like that,” Celia said, approaching her. “I’m not here to cause trouble.”
Sensing the tension, Claudia’s colleague made an excuse and left.
Celia walked up to Claudia, her voice dripping with resentment. “You win, Claudia.”
Claudia’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Celia, what are you talking about? What do you mean, I win?”
Celia let out a cold laugh. “You probably don’t know yet, do you? For you, York went against his family elders and the board of directors to terminate the partnership with the Quinn Group. Now, even the great Marcia Windsor wouldn’t dare to offend you.”
Claudia gave Celia a bored look and turned to walk away.
