Wendy looked at her husband with an expression of utter exasperation.

Their son had been pushed to this point, and yet he still showed no remorse.

"He's not a toddler, Sewell. He's twenty-seven!" Wendy interjected.

"Every word he said to you came from his heart," she continued. "And even now, you're still trying to blame someone else. Isn't York the product of the education you both hammered into him since he was a child?"

Sewell was indignant. "Look at his attitude towards me!"

Wendy retorted, "Respect is mutual. Even if you're his father, you can't have him monitored at every turn!"

"I'm doing it for his own good!" Sewell argued. "If I didn't see him as my son, why would I leave him everything the Ferguson family owns?"

York shot back, "You keep saying you're giving me everything, but are you sure it's actually in my hands?"

"Trust is a two-way street," York said, his voice hard. "I'm sick of you controlling every aspect of my life. If you can't trust me, then just find a new heir. I'll leave with nothing!"

"You bastard, are you threatening me?"

Sewell raised his hand to slap York a second time, but his wrist was caught mid-air in York's firm grip.

York pushed his father away and left the Ferguson Mansion without a moment's hesitation.

Throughout the entire confrontation, Old Mr. Ferguson had not said a word.

And York hadn't given the patriarch a chance to speak.

After York left, Sewell was left with a bellyful of fire and nowhere to vent it.

He pointed at Wendy and roared, "Look at the fine son you've raised! He was one step away from hitting his own father, all for that Watkins family!"

Wendy's voice was unnervingly calm. "You're not blind, Sewell. You've seen how the Watkins family has treated York since he was a child. What's so wrong with him being kind to them?"

Sewell shot back, "I gave him a chance! I relented and agreed to let him marry that Watkins girl, but he was the one who went back on his word!"
