Sewell's temper slowly subsided. "Dad, I just want York to stay away from the Watkins family and find a young woman of equal social standing. I'm doing all of this for his own good, but look at his attitude towards me."

Though his eyes were clouded with age, Old Mr. Ferguson's gaze was still sharp. "The boy is grown now. You need to learn to control your temper. Stop lashing out at him and his mother all the time."

"York has always been like me," Sewell insisted. "His personality has only changed recently. He must have been manipulated by the Watkins family!"

"It doesn't matter who he's been listening to," Old Mr. Ferguson stated. "He is your son, and he is the most suitable heir to take over the Ferguson Group. You should be trying to win his heart, not letting others drive a wedge between you."

York was drinking alone in a private room when Peter pushed the door open and found him.

York glanced up at Peter, then poured a glass of wine and pushed it across the table toward him.

Peter took the glass and set it down, his eyes fixed on the red mark on York's face. "Darleen said you had a huge fight with your family. What happened?"

York didn't answer, simply tilting his head back and downing a large mouthful of red wine.

Peter reached out and took the glass from his hand. "Is this about Claudia?"

York leaned back against the sofa, looking utterly exhausted.

He wished it was.

He wanted to break ties completely with his grandfather and father for Claudia's sake.

He wanted to give up everything just to stay by her side.

He wanted Claudia to see him, to give him a chance.
