Like his sister, Eddy had called him York since they were little. Whenever he had a problem, he would come to him first, not even his sister. He relied on him, trusted him, worshipped him. But in his past life, York had not only broken his wrist but also his heart.
A sharp pain lanced through York's chest. He silently sat down next to Claudia and took the glass Eddy handed him, forcing himself to rally.
The entire table was filled with dishes made to his taste.
Jessica reminded her daughter, "Claudia, don't just eat by yourself. Serve some more meat to York."
Claudia put a piece of chicken on York's plate.
York stared at her for a moment before lowering his head and eating the food she had given him.
"It's delicious," York praised.
Felix smiled. "York, my boy, you haven't been here in a while. Why are you acting like a stranger?"
Jessica said to York, "York, you should feel as comfortable in our home as you do in your own. Don't be so formal with us."
York nodded obediently.
He knew Felix didn't like to drink alone. He stood up and said, "Uncle Felix, let me have a drink with you."
Seeing her father so happy, Claudia didn't want to spoil the mood by objecting.
Watching York eating and laughing with her family, Claudia pouted. This was the scene she had always dreamed of. She had hoped York would let go of his pride and treat her family like his own. But she had waited until the very end, and it never happened.
After two lifetimes, York was finally able to genuinely return her parents' kindness. But as for her and York, there was no longer a future.
After lunch, York offered to help Jessica clear the table.
