Claudia had taken her parents and brother to pray for blessings, hike in the mountains, visit Christmas markets, and see friends and relatives, spending the entire holiday away from home. This continued until the end of the holiday break.

On the first day back at work, Claudia and a colleague ran into Gideon in the hallway.

Claudia greeted him openly, and Gideon responded with polite professionalism.

Claudia secretly breathed a sigh of relief. After a few days, Gideon was finally acting normal again, not like a madman.

Gideon watched Claudia and her colleague walk away before heading back to his own office.

Just as Gideon was about to enter the changing room to put on his coat, a young female doctor knocked and entered.

“Dr. Wanda, can I help you?” Gideon asked.

Wanda placed a gift she was holding on Gideon’s desk. “Happy Christmas, Director Harvest. This coffee mug is for you.”

Gideon glanced down at the gift. “Dr. Wanda, we are merely colleagues. Please don't give me gifts in the future. My girlfriend might get the wrong idea.”

Hearing that Gideon had a girlfriend, Dr. Wanda’s expression changed instantly. “That’s impossible. When did you get a girlfriend? How could I not know?”

Gideon corrected her. “To be precise, she’s my fiancée. Your future boss’s wife.”

Dr. Wanda looked embarrassed but remained defiant. “I don’t believe you. The matriarch clearly said you didn’t have a girlfriend. She promised me that she would let me marry into the Harvest family.”

Gideon’s expression turned serious. “Since my grandmother made you that promise, then you should go ask my grandmother to marry you. Please don’t disturb my work.”

With that, Gideon impatiently pressed the intercom, asking his assistant to escort Dr. Wanda out and to take the coffee mug with her.

York had never felt as useless as he did now.

Mark knocked and entered. “Mr. Ferguson, I have the results of the investigation you requested.”

York gathered his thoughts. “Speak.”

“Lawyer Hugh Ferguson did indeed take the Maroniak Group case. He’s already on a plane to Maronia.”

York’s well-defined fingers tapped lightly on the desk. He thought for a moment before instructing Mark, “Pick a few of our best men and have them watch Hugh’s wife and son around the clock.”

Although Mark couldn’t understand why his boss was so interested in a lawyer’s wife and son, he complied without question.
