After Mark left the office, York slowly rose to his feet.
In his past life, he had secretly investigated Hugh. Hugh had taken on the Maroniak Group’s case and made some powerful enemies. To force him to drop the case, they resorted to kidnapping his wife and son. Although Hugh gave up the trial, his wife was still brutally murdered, and his young son developed a severe psychological disorder. It was only after meeting Claudia that the child slowly began to recover.
He had seen how kind Hugh had been to Claudia in their previous life. In this life, he would do whatever it took to save Hugh’s wife and son and keep their family whole.
Two days later.
On her way home from work, Claudia got a call from her brother asking her to pick up some takeout.
While buying the food, she happened to see a woman passing by with a little boy of about three.
When she heard the woman call the boy ‘Hawley,’ Claudia instinctively looked at him. In just one glance, she recognized him as Hugh’s son, Hawley Ferguson.
Claudia then looked at the young woman with Hawley. She was tall and slender, fashionably dressed, with an elegant and gentle beauty. When she heard Hawley call her “Mom,” Claudia was even more certain: this was Hugh’s wife and son.
The woman seemed to be on the phone with Hugh, her smile warm and lovely.
Claudia looked away and was about to pay and get into a taxi when she saw several suspicious-looking men forcibly drag the mother and son into a car.
Suddenly, she remembered the death of Hugh’s wife from her past life. Hugh himself had told her that Hawley had been kidnapped with his mother around the age of three and had watched her die a horrible death, leading to his severe psychological trauma. Hawley was the same age as Ann’s son. Calculating the time, it had to be now.
Claudia dropped the takeout and quickly got into the taxi. “Driver, follow that car ahead!”
