No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 669

As the workday was ending, Gideon came to find Claudia.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Claudia glanced down both ends of the hallway before quickly shutting her office door.

“Gideon, this is a hospital,” she reminded him. “You can’t just keep popping over here for no reason.”

“I just came to ask,” Gideon said, “have you thought about it?”

Claudia’s mind went blank for a second. “Thought about what?”

“About ‘that night’,” he specified.

Claudia reflexively reached up to cover his mouth.

Gideon couldn’t help but smile at her reaction. He gently pulled her hand down and held it. “I’ve booked a table at a restaurant tonight. I want to talk to you.”

“See you at the restaurant,” Claudia said, quickly pulling her hand away.

Just after seven that evening, York and Peter arrived at an upscale restaurant downtown.

As they walked through the glass doors, they immediately saw Gideon and Claudia.

Claudia was asking Gideon what he wanted to eat. “Order whatever you like,” Gideon said. “You don’t have to accommodate my tastes.”

Claudia clutched the menu, a little moved. When she was with York, she was always the one catering to his preferences. Not just her, but her whole family as well.

It was a small, seemingly insignificant thing, but it felt so good to be considered.

Not far away, Peter gave York a subtle look. “Should we go over and say hello?”

York stared, transfixed by the look of genuine emotion on Claudia’s face. His hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into fists.

“No,” he said, turning and walking away without another word.

The entire meal, York was completely distracted.

By the time he, Peter, and Darleen finished their dinner and came down from the second floor, Claudia and Gideon were already gone.

Everyone was busy, moving along their own tracks.

Claudia and York were invited to the Ferguson’s home as guests of Hugh and his wife. During the visit, Hugh learned that they were childhood sweethearts who had almost gotten married, and she spent the entire time trying to push them back together.

Feeling awkward, Claudia was persuaded to have a few drinks.

Avoiding York’s intense gaze, she slipped away to secretly call Gideon and ask him to pick her up.

When York found out, his mood plummeted.

After leaving the Ferguson estate, they stood by York’s car.

His eyes were tinged with red as he said, his words sharp and deliberate, “Claudia, do you really trust me so little?”

She had been drinking. He had never once thought of taking advantage of her, only wanting to get her home safely so she could rest. But she had still called Gideon to come get her.

York was clearly losing his composure.

“I told you I would respect you! I told you I would watch you be happy, and I meant it!” he said, his voice rising. “Why are you still so guarded with me?”
