Cameron took a deep breath, forcing down his rising fury. "Fine. You wait right there." He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, his voice cold. "Pick up Ivy. Get her here in ten minutes."
Emily’s face instantly drained of color.
After hanging up, Cameron barked, "Since you’re so convinced Elsie seduced me away from Ivy, let’s bring Ivy here and settle this in front of everyone. If it turns out you lied, you will issue a public apology to my girlfriend in front of the entire university."
The onlookers began exchanging skeptical glances. After all this drama, it turned out the forum posts were the work of this one woman.
"This Emily is something else. Even after the boyfriend explains everything, she’s still insisting Elsie is a homewrecker."
"Who knows? Maybe she really thinks she’s defending her cousin."
"That’s no excuse to slander someone. I actually believed Elsie stole someone’s man, but it turns out they were already broken up."
"Exactly. If they broke up and he moved on, how does that make her 'the other woman'? Talk about misleading the public."
Listening to the whispers, Emily’s expression grew even more twisted.
Emily flinched but doubled down. "So what if I did? Am I not telling the truth? You and Cameron were a perfect match. If it weren't for her interference, you two never would have split!"
Ivy took a long, weary breath. "Who told you Cameron and I broke up because of someone else? I never said a word to you about it, so what gives you the right to make these wild guesses? How many times have you even seen him? How would you know how 'perfect' our relationship was?"
"Wasn't it obvious?" Emily argued. "Every time he dropped you off, you had all those designer bags and jewelry. If he didn't love you, why would he spend so much on you?"
Ivy looked at Emily and let out a dry, mocking laugh. "I had no idea you were watching me so closely. I didn't realize that in your world, carrying luxury shopping bags equals love. For your information, I bought most of those things myself. Furthermore, we may be cousins, but you know exactly where we stand. Ever since we were children, you’ve tried to steal everything I liked, and every time I faced a setback, you were the first to gloat. And now you’re claiming you did this for me? Emily, don't you think that’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever said?"
