Chapter 262 The Arrival of George
Oberon was a masterclass in shamelessness. Trying to spark a conversation, he spoke in an overly polite tone, “Mr. Drakon, you’re awake quite carly! I feel bad making you rush around at this hour.”
Jason didn’t respond. He didn’t even glance at Oberon, letting the awkwardness hang in the air.
Evelyn strolled in, balancing a breakfast tray. She cast a sharp look at the Whitewoods and smirked. “Wow, Mr. Whitewood, couldn’t wait to start the day, huh? Here’s an idea–why don’t www.sell your adopted daughter outright? I know people who’d be interested. Need me to Connect you? And leave my uncle alone while you’re at it. He’s not a prize for just anyone to chase.”
Her cutting remarks hit hard, wiping the smirk off Oberon’s face and leaving Linara visibly flustered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Chloe stepped in, her voice trembling with forced calm. “Miss Drakon, I think you misunderstood. If you’d listened to the whole conversation-”
Evelyn waved her off. “Oh, spare me the excuses. Just look at your daughter. What’s she wearing? Is she seriously trying to copy someone else’s style? If you can’t show Seraphina the respect she deserves, then I will. If you won’t look after her, I will.”
The tension in the room thickened as Evelyn’s words landed like a hammer. She wanted to kick them out then and there, but Seraphina’s connection to them held her back.
In Evelyn’s eyes, Seraphina’s quiet strength only made her plight more heartbreaking. She never complained or let her pain show, even when it was obvious to everyone around her.
Just then, the sound of Jason’s phone vibrating broke the silence. He glanced at the caller ID, muttered a quick excuse, and left the room to take the call.
Jason returned ten minutes later, this time with a tall man following him. The newcomer had sharp features and a calm, commanding presence. His entrance drew all eyes in the room; even Oberon and Chloe couldn’t help but stare.
It wa hosp
It’s her, the girl from the banquet, he thought, recognizing Seraphina instantly. He hadn’t expected to see her again, let alone in this state.
Without hesitation, he walked over to begin his work.
Evelyn leaned closer to Jason, whispering, “Who’s he?”
1/2
“A doctor,” Jason replied in his usual curt manner.
He didn’t elaborate, and Evelyn decided not to push further.
On the other hand, Oberon was trying to piece things together. Could this man really be the Dr. Foster? The renowned genius in neurology? He couldn’t wrap his head around how someone so poised and good–looking could also be a medical prodigy.
“Get me all the scans,” George requested, his tone firm and professional.
shot a look at Oberon, who nodded quickly and hurried off to fetch the scans.
Meanwhile, word of George’s arrival had spread like wildfire through the hospital. Doctors and nurses gathered outside the ward, pressing against the glass window to catch a glimpse of him. Despite the growing crowd, only the dean and the head of the neurology department were granted permission to enter the room.
Though both were seasoned professionals in their fifties, they stood before George like nervous students, their respect and admiration evident.
To an outsider, it might have seemed like a celebrity was inside. In a way, it wasn’t far from the truth–this was no ordinary star chase but the admiration for a legend in the world of medicine.
“He’s actually here! That’s Dr. Foster, right?” one nurse whispered excitedly.
