Chapter 266 Tracking Down Ratty Ray

“Are you feeling any discomfort?” George asked, standing at the side of the bed. The sunlight streaming through the window framed his face, casting a soft glow that gave him an almost otherworldly presence.

Standing nearby, Evelyn couldn’t take her eyes off him. Her heart raced. Love at first sight? Definitely. Forget Thomas–this guy is on a whole different level.

As someone who had always been drawn to appearances, Evelyn couldn’t help but let her mind wander. If only I were the one lying in that bed, how perfect would that be?

Oblivious to Evelyn’s thoughts, Seraphina shook her head lightly. “I’m fine. I was just really tired and needed the rest.”

George nodded. “Good. Make sure you get proper rest if you’re feeling drained.”

“Thank you,” she replied softly.

George hesitated, studying her carefully. Though he wasn’t the type to offer unsolicited advice, he added, “You know, people who smile more tend to attract better luck. You should try smiling with your eyes more often.”

Seraphina laughed to herself. Smile? I smiled plenty in my past life. Did it bring me luck? No—just endless pain.

She disagreed but chose not to argue either.

George noticed the tension in her demeanor and then glanced at Oberon, who hovered nearby with an air of forced concern. Turning to Jason, he stated, “If anything comes up, have my

assistant contact me.”

With that, George left.

Seraphina spent a week in the hospital until Jason finally gave her the green light to discharge. None of the Whitewoods were informed–only Jason came to collect her.

As soon as they got into the car, Seraphina cut straight to the point. “Where is he?”

She had been trying to track down Shane, but Ryan’s whereabouts remained a mystery. To make matters worse, Shane wasn’t revealing anything. She knew that finding someone as slippery as Ryan was nearly impossible without the right connections.

Unfazed, Jason replied, “I’ll bring you somewhere.”

Seraphina frowned. “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me where Ratty Ray is.”

“You’ll find out soon enough,” Jason insisted, his tone calm but firm.

Frustrated, Seraphina reached for the car door only to discover it locked.

“Just tell me,” she demanded, her sharp gaze fixed on him.

Jason quickly admired her striking eyes before reassuring her, “Relax. You’ll see him when we

arrive.”

He couldn’t help but think, Why is she being so irrational about this? She’s usually so sharp.

Her jaw tightened, but she eventually leaned back in her seat and stared out the window. Her emotions simmered as silence filled the car.

Jason discreetly observed her from the periphery, reading every flicker of her expression.

About an hour later, the car pulled into a desolate area overrun with wild grass and weeds. Ahead of them stood an isolated warehouse, its worn exterior blending into the barren landscape.

As the car rolled to a stop, Seraphina glanced at the building while someone lurking in the shadows discreetly grabbed a walkie–talkie.

“Boss, we’ve got a man and a woman pulling up in a Maybach. They look loaded,” the voice crackled over the radio.

In the warehouse, Ryan–better known as Ratty Ray–froze mid–bite of his barbecue. His sharp, rodent–like features twisted into suspicion.
