Chapter 265 Shane Under Lock and Key
Shane squinted for a moment before finally managing to open his eyes, his head pounding.
As his vision cleared, he noticed the burly men surrounding him. His gaze quickly shifted to his dad, Edmond Draykon, standing calmly across the room. A wave of frustration and anger surged through Shane.
“Tie him up,” Edmond ordered.
The men didn’t hesitate. They moved in swiftly, binding Shane with thick restraints.
Despite being tied up, Shane refused to give in, thrashing and twisting in an attempt to break free. His voice filled the room as he yelled, “Dad! Why are you doing this?”
Edmond approached, his expression clouded with remorse. “Shane, this is in your best interest.”
“My best interest?! Since when has locked me up like a criminal counted as doing me a favor? At least tell me why I can’t leave!” Shane snapped, his voice rising.
Edmond’s tone was firm but calm. “I’ve already told you. Our enemies have made threats- serious ones. They’re planning to use you against me. You’re my only son, Shane. I can’t risk anything happening to you. Until this is handled, you’re staying here.”
Shane’s eyes narrowed in disbelief. “Enemies? Dad, we’ve dealt with worse threats before. You were never this scared.”
He thought, Dad’s different now. Every move he makes feels overly calculated, as if he’s deliberately orchestrating this just for me. It’s almost unreal–like an illusion I can’t shake.
“Fine. How about this–send some of your men with me. Let them guard me if you’re that worried. I have some urgent matters to take care of, Dad. Please,” Shane reasoned, softening his
tone.
Edmond didn’t even blink before shutting him down. “No.”
He couldn’t take the risk. Someone powerful had reached out to him–a figure so influential in the Serica underworld that a single word from them could wipe out their entire operation and send shockwaves across both the northern and southern factions. He had made it clear that Shane was to be kept under close watch.
The warning alone was enough to rattle even a seasoned man like Edmond to his core. Yet, as he mulled it over, a lingering question gnawed at him–When did Shane cross someone like that?
Unaware of the gravity of the situation, Shane could only see his dad’s actions as excessive and
unreasonable.

“Let me go! I said let me go!” Shane shouted, struggling as he was dragged out of the room.
Once Shane was confined to his room, Edmond instructed one of his men, “Weld the window shut. In fact, weld all of the windows.”
Hearing welding noises from outside, Shane hurried to the window and saw the sparks flying. His jaw clenched in fury, and his fists tightened at his sides.
“You’ve lost it! This is insane!” he yelled, his voice filled with frustration.
Meanwhile, news of Seraphina’s recovery spread quickly, reaching Oberon. Relieved, he hurried to her bedside.
However, when Oberon saw her, the relief quickly faded. Seraphina didn’t look the same. Something was unsettling about her–her expression cold and distant, her eyes sharp and unrecognizable.
