The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 291

Victoria’s mind was a mess on the way home.

She kept telling herself she was overthinking it. It couldn’t have happened from just that one time…

But when she arrived back at Willow Creek Estates, she stared at the results on the pregnancy test.

As the minutes ticked by, two red lines slowly, clearly, appeared.

The next morning.

She sat in the OB-GYN’s office, staring at the conclusion on the lab report while the doctor’s voice echoed in her ears.

“Congratulations, Ms. Sanger. You’re pregnant.”

It took a long moment for Victoria to lift her gaze from the word ‘pregnant.’ She asked the doctor, feeling lost and bewildered, “Could there be a mistake? My last check-up said it would be very difficult for me to—”

“There’s no mistake, Ms. Sanger. You are indeed seven weeks pregnant,” the doctor said. “I’ve reviewed your previous medical records. It’s true that conceiving again was difficult, but it was never impossible.”

Victoria pressed her lips together so tightly that they lost their color.

The doctor noticed the hesitation on her face and asked with concern, “Ms. Sanger, is something worrying you? You don’t seem very excited about this child.”

“I’m just not prepared,” Victoria said, placing a hand on her lower abdomen. Her heart was beating a little too fast, and she couldn’t quite name the feeling.

She never, ever thought she could get pregnant again.

So when she found out, it was like a stone had been thrown into a perfectly still lake, sending ripples spreading everywhere.

She wasn’t excited, but she didn’t feel resistant either.

The doctor smiled. “I think many women feel unprepared before becoming mothers. Take me, for example. When I found out there was another little life inside me, ‘panicked’ is the best word to describe it. My mind was filled with doubts and uncertainties, afraid I wouldn’t be a good mother. But…”

The doctor was very gentle. She reached out and placed her warm palm over Victoria’s, comforting her. “The moment you see him with your own eyes, you’ll feel something truly magical. Ms. Sanger, your baby is a fighter. He wanted to meet you so badly that he broke through every barrier to come to you.”

“I believe you will be a very good mother.”
