The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 345

Elias froze.

In the dim light, he could clearly see her eyelashes trembling from nervousness and rejection.

His eyes darkened.

He pressed his forehead against her temple, then slowly moved down until his cool lips rested in the crook of her neck. A vein pulsed on his temple as he fought the urge to bite down.

A heavy weight settled on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Victoria could feel his warm breath on her skin, sending shivers through her. The hand resting by her side curled into a fist, her fingers digging into the edge of the sofa.

“…I’m sorry.”

Hearing the man’s sudden apology, Victoria was taken aback. For a moment, she didn’t understand why Elias was apologizing, but she quickly figured it out. His ‘I’m sorry’ was for not trusting her, for wrongly accusing her. It was an apology for the pain he now believed he had “unintentionally” caused.

But…

This apology had come too late. Five months ago, she might have forgiven him. Back then, he was her entire world; she was desperately in love with him. But the Victoria of today had been shattered by his repeated, scornful rejections every time she had begged him to believe her.

Victoria’s emotions gradually settled. She slowly opened her eyes and asked, “If I don’t accept your apology, you won’t let me go, will you?”

He didn't answer.

Victoria pursed her lips. “Fine,” she said. “I accept.”

“Elias, I accept your apology.” Her voice was flat, almost cold. She then asked again, enunciating each word clearly, “So, can you let—”

Elias suddenly cut her off, his voice deep and resolute. “Let’s get remarried.”

Boom.

It was as if something had exploded right next to her ear.

Victoria froze, her face a mask of stunned disbelief. She wasn't sure if she had heard him correctly.

Elias lifted his head and stared into her eyes, as if searching for a hint of joy. She was bound to be thrilled. Two years ago, she had moved heaven and earth just to marry him. Now that he was offering it to her, allowing her to stay by his side, there was no reason for her to refuse.

However, apart from a fleeting moment of shock, there was nothing. No joy, no trace of love for him. Her eyes were like a barren desert, devoid of everything.

Elias stared at her, the black in his eyes like a surging tide, growing deeper and darker. It was as if a storm cloud was churning violently within them, threatening to erupt with lightning and thunder at any moment, dragging everything into its vortex.

The air in the private room seemed to freeze in their heavy gaze.

They remained locked like that for what felt like an eternity.

Elias’s phone began to ring. It was a call from the Shawn Mansion.

The ringtone echoed in the room for a long time. It rang three times in a row. Victoria bit the inside of her cheek, a look of struggle and resignation flashing across her face.

In the end, she was the one to break the silence. “That many calls… it must be urgent. Aren’t you going to answer it?”

Elias continued to gaze at her, his eyes trying to dissect her very soul.

After about ten seconds, just before the third call ended, he slowly released Victoria. He stood up and answered the phone.

Victoria pushed herself into a sitting position, about to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking the call from the Shawn Mansion had saved her.

But in that instant, she saw Elias’s face change drastically as he listened to the report from the other end of the line.
