“What’s there to be afraid of? We’ll handle whatever comes our way.” Catherine offered Letty a calm, reassuring glance.
Neville walked over, one hand on his lower back, shooting Letty a glare. “Catherine, Ivan and Isaac are waiting for you.”
His words weren’t exactly rude, but he sounded like someone just passing along orders, nothing more.
Letty rolled her eyes. After a few days getting to know Neville, her initial crush was basically gone.
“I already told Catherine. Move aside, you’re blocking the way.” She gave Neville a nudge.
Neville stiffened, refusing to budge. Letty didn’t hesitate—she lifted her foot and stomped down on his.
“Ow!” Neville yelped, hopping and grabbing his foot. “Southern women, you’re all so rough and bossy!”
Letty ignored him and guided Catherine inside.
The whole office was tense. Yesterday, all the senior managers gathered, ready to confront Catherine, but she never showed. They ended up staring at each other, the moment ruined. When the big shots have issues, it’s always the regular employees who pay the price, and everyone could feel the tension.
People were so nervous they weren’t even sure if they should say hello to Catherine as she walked in.
Catherine kept her eyes forward and headed straight for the elevator. When she reached the top floor, she made her way to her office, only to be stopped at the door by Ivan.
“Catherine, the executives are waiting for you in the conference room. Isaac’s here too.”
He reached out, blocking her path and making sure she couldn’t open the office door.
Catherine paused, her brow tightening.
“I honestly thought you might not show up today,” Ivan said, his tone a little mocking. “You should know, running away doesn’t fix anything. You’re in charge now. I’m sure you get that.”
