The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 5

As soon as Adelina stepped into the office, she spotted Aaron busy booking tickets. “Where’s Lance?” she asked, glancing at his screen. “Why are you booking tickets?”

“He’s in the lounge. Something urgent came up at the branch, so Lance has to head over there,” Aaron explained.

Before he could finish, Adelina was already fishing her ID out of her bag and handing it to him. “Book one for me, too. I’m going with him.”

Aaron blinked, caught off guard. “Wait, really?”

She just looked at him like it was obvious. “What, do you need to hear it from Lance himself?”

For the past six months, wherever Lance went, Adelina was right there with him.

Aaron shrugged, accepting her ID. “Alright, got it.”

As Adelina glanced around, she noticed an opened envelope on the side. Whatever had been inside was already gone—Lance must have taken it.

Her brows knitted together. She couldn’t help but feel suspicious.

A few minutes later, Lance came out, dressed in a fresh suit, briefcase in hand, striding toward the door. The resignation letter, still folded, sat on the edge of the bed. While tidying up, he’d accidentally knocked it to the floor.

Catherine was scrolling through pregnancy tips online when a finance news update popped up. That’s how she found out Lance had gone abroad.

It was almost the end of the year, the busiest season at work, yet Lance had dropped everything and flown overseas with Adelina.

The media was already buzzing, guessing they were about to get married and had gone abroad to pick out wedding venues.

Rumors had been swirling about Lance and Adelina for months, but Catherine had always ignored them. She was determined not to know.

But avoidance only worked for so long. A month ago, when she saw Lance, she still couldn’t push him away. They’d ended up together again.

At this point, she was done running. She was leaving anyway. Might as well face the pain head on.
