The Betrayed Princess Rising (Lylah and Ezra) novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446

3rd Person’s POV

“So the rumors were true.” Eldric’s voice cut through the chamber like frostbitten steel.

His sharp gaze lingered on the fading bruise beneath Cora’s powder-covered cheek, and disgust darkened his scent immediately.

“You let Rowan Blackfang treat you like this? He struck you, humiliated you publicly, and you simply endured it?”

Not once did he ask if she was hurt.

Not once did he ask how she had survived.

“You’ve disgraced the Ironcrest name enough already,” Eldric continued. “And now you come here expecting my help?” A humorless scoff left him. “I’m already disappointed you allowed the Ironcrest daughter to be reduced to something so pathetic. I won’t involve myself further.”

For a moment, Cora simply stared at him.

Then bitter understanding settled heavily inside her chest.

“You stopped seeing me as useful,” she said quietly, though venom trembled beneath every word. “I can no longer help you gain Commander Ivar’s favor, so now you’re washing your hands of me.”

Her nails bit into her palms. “And yet back then, you were the one pushing me toward Rowan. You were the one who rushed the mating ceremony. You should’ve left Lunaris and returned to Ironcrest already. Or crawled back to hell where you belong.”

“You expect me to lose one alliance and abandon Lunaris entirely?” Eldric’s eyes turned glacial. “You think I cannot forge new connections simply because Rowan cut ties with me?”

The insult beneath the words landed cleanly.

Unlike him, Cora had built her entire world around one male.

Then the Ironcrest Alpha turned away without hesitation.

The towering marble doors shut directly in front of Cora’s face.

Daia and Orion remained nearby, but neither stepped forward.

Neither defended her.

“Cora,” Daia finally said with a weary sigh, “you are Blackfang’s Luna now. If there is conflict between you and Rowan, then only Rowan can resolve it.” Her gaze softened slightly, but not enough. “Neither your father nor I can continue protecting you from the consequences of your choices. That responsibility no longer belongs to us.”

A hollow laugh nearly escaped Cora’s throat.

Chapter 446

How convenient.

The moment the tides shifted against her, everyone who once claimed to love her suddenly remembered their limits.

By the time dusk swallowed Lunaris beneath amber glow, exhaustion had settled deep into Cora’s bones.

The apartment doors finally opened.

Rowan stepped inside.

The instant she saw him, she rose too quickly from the couch.

“Azrel informed me you went to the office looking for me,” Rowan said flatly as he removed his suit jacket.

But despite the coldness in his tone, his wolf noticed immediately.

The pallor of her skin.

The weakness in her scent.

The instability in her stance.

“R-Rowan…” Before she could finish, dizziness crashed over her violently.

Her knees buckled.

Rowan caught her before she struck the floor.

His arms closed around her instantly. He carried her toward the couch.

“Did you eat anything today?” he demanded harshly. “Did you even drink water? You’re carrying my heir. Do you have any idea how dangerous this is?”

Cora’s fingers weakly curled against his sleeve.

“Rowan…” Her voice cracked. “My parents abandoned me.”

Something flickered across his face.

“I went to them first,” she whispered feverishly. “They turned me away.” Tears burned down her cheeks silently. “My own father… my own mother…” Her breathing trembled unevenly. “Now the baby and I have no one left.”

‘Silence filled the apartment.
