Chapter 445
3rd Person’s POV
Cold wind swept through the streets of Lunaris, tugging at Cora’s hair like mocking fingers as she stood before the massive black-glass building of Rowan’s office.
For a moment, she stared at the steel and obsidian structure that had once felt like an extension of her own power. Now it looked foreign.
Several Blackfang guards stood near the security gate. The scent of amusement curled through the air the instant they noticed her.
Or rather,
noticed what she had become.
“What are you doing here?” One of the guards stepped forward.
His tone was flat, stripped clean of the respect they should have shown their Luna.
Cora stiffened. “I’m here to see my mate.”
The guard barely reacted.
“Alpha Rowan is currently occupied in a meeting.” His eyes flicked over her pale face before returning to cold indifference. “You didn’t schedule an appointment, so you cannot enter. Come back after making one.”
Cora’s fingers curled sharply at her sides.
“What do you mean by appointment?” she demanded, hurt and fury flashing through her eyes. “I’m his mate. I am still your Luna.”
The guards exchanged glances.
Then one of them smiled.
Not warmly.
The kind of smile wolves gave when watching prey stumble through its final moments.
“Luna”
“Luna,” a voice suddenly interrupted.
Azrel crossed the lobby swiftly, concern immediately shadowing his features the moment he saw her. Gone was the lavish elegance Cora usually carried like a second skin. Her face looked pale and drawn, even the bruise hidden beneath powder could not fully escape the Beta’s attention.
Azrel exhaled quietly. “Luna Cora, you look unwell.”
Unlike the others, his tone still carried genuine respect.
“If you wanted to see Alpha Rowan, why didn’t you simply call him?”

But how could she explain that Rowan had stopped returning to their apartment entirely?
That every message she sent disappeared unanswered into silence?
Rowan had completely shut her out of his life.
Azrel sighed softly, sympathy flickering in his eyes.
“I’ll inform Alpha Rowan that you came.” His voice gentled “Once his meeting ends, I’ll let him know you wish to see him. For now, you should go home and rest.”
Cora stared at him in silence.
Back then, she would have lashed out already.
Would have humiliated the guards where they stood for daring to disrespect her.
And Azrel himself had endured her temper more than once since taking Gavriel’s place as Rowan’s Beta.
Yet even now, he remained kind.
“Thank you, Azrel,” she said quietly, her voice rougher than intended. “You’re the only one here who still treats me with respect.”
Azrel lowered his head slightly.
“Don’t thank me, Luna,” he answered gently. “I will always respect you. That’s my duty.”
Cora lowered her gaze for a brief moment before giving a small nod.
