Chapter 449
3rd Person’s POV
By late afternoon, Lylah’s team finally found a villager willing to open her door.
The rest of Lunera had barred themselves inside their huts the moment they caught sight of the Lunar Grace healers. The rattan door slammed shut. Shabby curtains drawn tight.
The fear hanging over the Valley carried the sharp, uneasy scent of wolves cornered too many times before.
The hut they entered was old and weathered.
An elderly wolf sat beside the firepit wrapped in heavy bear furs, her silver hair falling loose around a gaunt face carved by hardship.
“My name is Abba,” She said quietly. “My family lives in Lunaris now. I remained behind.”
Her cloudy eyes dimmed further.
“It happened after the accident. I fell into a coma for seven days beneath the last Full Moon. When I woke… Her voice roughened painfully. “My wolf was gone.”
“I thought perhaps it was because I’m old,” Abba continued with a bitter smile. “Maybe my wolf simply grew too weak to remain beside me.”
Tessalonika observed him carefully before turning toward Lylah and Seraphina.
“This is not a common condition,” the elder healer murmured. “But it is precisely why we came to Lunera.” Her sharp eyes lingered briefly on both girls. “You two will handle this case. Professor Buro requested my assistance elsewhere.”
Seraphina stepped forward immediately, confidence radiating from her posture.
“Leave it to me, Lady Tessalonika,” she said smoothly. “I’ll resolve this without difficulty.”
The elder healer gave a small nod before disappearing into the fog beyond the doorway.
The moment she left, Seraphina approached Abba, though careful enough not to stand too close. She clearly disliked the scent of sickness lingering in the cramped hut.
“No one ever examined you before?” Seraphina asked.
Abba shook her head slowly.
“Very few healers come to Lunera. And these legs no longer carry me far enough to reach Lunaris.” Sadness clouded her weathered features. “If I could reconnect with my wolf… perhaps I would regain enough strength to see my family again.”
Seraphina’s expression barely shifted.
“And what makes you think they still remember you? It’s been years, hasn’t it?”

The old wolf flinched.

Lylah’s brows drew together faintly.
But Seraphina continued as though she hadn’t noticed.
“Still, you’re fortunate I’m here.” Pride sharpened her voice. “I’m Lady Seraphina Blackmaw of Lunar Grace I’ve studied in the modern healing field for three years.” Her chin lifted slightly. “And I already know the solution to your condition.”
Hope flickered weakly in Abba’s tired eyes.
Seraphina folded her arms. “A bone replacement procedure.”
The room fell silent.
Abba blinked slowly. “I… don’t understand.”
“It’s simple,” Seraphina explained impatiently. “Your body is deteriorating because of age. Weak bones weaken your wolf spirit connected to your body. We replace your failing bones with those of a younger wolf
Fear entered Abba’s scent instantly. “You would carve apart another wolf for me?”
“It’s a necessary process,” Seraphina replied dismissively. “We simply need to locate a suitable donor and—”
“No.”
The single word cut cleanly through the room.
