Chapter 448
3rd Person’s POV
“I remember you.” Zyrelle studied the male standing before her with narrowed eyes.
The sharp scent of state alcohol and cheap tobacco clung to him like rot beneath moonlight. She recognized him immediately-the low-ranking wolf Ezra had met shortly after the Lunaris business
venture.
Back then, she hadn’t understood why her cousin would waste even a fragment of his attention on someone like this.
“You’re Erik, aren’t you?” she asked coolly.
The wolf grinned crookedly, shoulders slouching with drunken confidence. “That’s right, my lady.” Pride flickered in his scent despite the nervousness beneath it. “And I came to tell Alpha Ezra I did exactly what he wanted.”
Zyrelle’s expression hardened slightly.
Erik leaned closer, lowering his voice as though sharing some grand secret. “I ruined Rowan Blackfang and Cora’s relationship that night.” Satisfaction gleamed in his eyes. “The bastard even struck the bitch publicly.” He chuckled under his breath. “After everything I did, doesn’t that earn me a reward?”
His grin widened greedily.
“At the very least, I deserve a place beside Alpha Ezra. Maybe even become one of his trusted wolves.” Excitement sharpened his breathing. “And I want to meet my real cousin too. Lylah. The true daughter of Aunt Vala Stillward.”
Zyrelle frowned.
She had accompanied Ezra that day, but he had never explained the details of his arrangement with Erik. Whatever had been said between them, this fool had clearly mistaken manipulation for opportunity.
A dangerous mistake.
“I regret ever believing Cora was Aunt Vala’s daughter,” Erik continued bitterly. “If I’d known the truth sooner, I would’ve abandoned her immediately and searched for Lylah instead.”
His voice softened into something almost theatrical.
“While Cora lived surrounded by comfort and protection, Lylah must’ve been suffering alone because of Cora’s schemes.” He shook his head mournfully. “No family. No friends. No one is protecting her.”
Zyrelle felt no sympathy.
“Lylah is Luna of Moonclaw now,” she said flatly. “She possesses more protection and authority than Cora ever did.”
The pressure in her voice sharpened faintly, enough to make Erik instinctively stiffen.

Chapter 448
“As for your reward…” Zyrelle crossed her arms. “Ezra never promised you any official position. Whatever expectations you created were your own.”
Disbelief flashed across Erik’s face. “You mean… I’m not becoming Alpha Ezra’s right hand?”
Zyrelle nearly sighed.
Low-ranking wolves always made the same mistake. The moment an Alpha acknowledged them, they mistook temporary usefulness for importance….
They never understood the true cruelty of power.
Politics among Alphas was not loyalty.
It was a strategy sharpened into fangs.
“You can ask him yourself another time,” she replied firmly. “Right now, he’s occupied.” Her gaze turned colder. “You shouldn’t be here. Leave.”
Erik hesitated, disappointment souring his scent.
But beneath Zyrelle’s unmoving stare, he eventually lowered his head and retreated into the fog-covered estate path.
Silence settled once more.
Unseen from the shadows beyond the treatment chamber doors, Luén watched everything.
The dim corridor lights cast pale gold across her face as her violet eyes followed Erik’s disappearing figure.
A slow chill crept through her chest.
“Ezrael…” she murmured. “You truly haven’t changed.”
There was no anger in her voice.
Only quiet understanding.
Even after two lifetimes, Ezrael remained what fate had forged him into long ago-a ruthless predator, willing to sacrifice kingdoms, allies, and souls alike for the one woman seated at the center of his world.
His mate.
His Queen.
Cold-blooded King. Merciless. And terrifyingly devoted.
