“Being a Luna means everything to me, and having your support is important. If you haven’t already, please see my brothers so you can donate to the Lila Blackwell Fund. It’ll truly help me better the future of the territory. Though my family is rich, I’d really love it if those who support me could contribute.”
My heart hammered in my chest; I looked up at Gavin, whose brows were pinched together. We watched as some members of the crowd approached Noah Blackwell, who held a small donation box.
They were taking money from people?
Lila reached up and touched her necklace, making my eyes widen for a moment. It looked like the Moon Gem, but I knew that it wasn’t real. I didn’t feel the same pull as I did with the real moon gem, and this one didn’t glow. This one barely made any movement as she ran her thumb across the delicate edges.
“And to prove that I only want what’s best for this pack, my brothers are presenting a check for 1 billion dollars to the Landry Foundation. Whatever money you donate will be returned to you tenfold and put towards improving this entire territory, not just the Silver Crescent pack. I’m sure you are also wondering why I chose this neutral territory for this party.”
She motioned for Noah, who handed the donation bin to his younger brother, Emmet. Noah walked onto the stage with a pretty blonde by his side; she was curled up against him, and his arm was wrapped around her waist. She was smiling up at him as he took the mic from Lila, kissing her on the cheek like a doting brother.
I had to stifle an eye-roll because I knew it was all a show.
“I present to you the deed to this neutral territory,” Noah announced, pulling a piece of paper out of his coat pocket. Everyone, including me, gasped. “We are expanding the Landry territory, which means more homes and more pack members. We are willing to take in rogues as long as you show your support to my sister and vote for her to be the Luna of this territory.”
I looked up at Gavin; his jaw was tight, and I knew he was doing everything in his power to keep himself and his wolf under control.
“He can’t do that, can he?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“No,” Gavin said through his teeth. “He can’t,”
“Gavin Landry’s business is crumbling, and my father is doing everything he can to save it,” Noah continued. “With this added income of a new section of the territory, along with your

support and donations, we can ensure that it remains running and properly. All of this is because of my sister, Lila. She’s already accomplished so much, and she’s not even officially the Luna yet. Imagine what she can accomplish once that title is officially hers?”
“Aw, you’re the best, Noah,” Lila said, beaming up at him. “I’m not sure what I would do without you and Emmet in my corner. I’m glad all the rumors about me not really being your sister didn’t get to you.”
Noah wrapped his free arm around Lila’s shoulders and kissed the side of her head.
“You’ll always be my sister, no matter what,” he assured her, still speaking into the mic so everyone could hear them, solidifying my thought that this was all for show.
I pressed my lips together in a thin line, clenching my fists. I wanted to interfere, but I didn’t want to cause a scene and make things worse for myself. But then I felt a surge of something profound in the pit of my belly, and it swirled around my insides, growing angrier. It was more than my wolf… it was something else… something much more powerful, and it didn’t like being challenged.
“Fight,” a voice said inside of me, making me freeze. “Trust us to help you.”
I blinked, looking around. There was nobody nearby other than Gavin, Nan, and Irene, and none of them had this voice that was in my head. I stared down at my hands, seeing the magic crackle at the tips of my fingers, and I flexed those fingers, feeling the magic surge inside of me.
Could the magic be speaking to me?
Was that one of the perks of being the host of magic?.
Before I knew what was happening, my voice was booming across the crowd, turning everyone’s attention to me.
“Can you prove that Gavin’s business is failing? Because from where I stand, I’d say it’s bigger than ever and thriving,” I said, folding my arms across my chest as I glared at her narrowed eyes. “So, why do you think it’s failing, Lila? Are you really that desperate for money that you’d take it from packmates and then lie to them about it? Did your family cut you off or something?”
Her eyes turned to slits, and her face reddened; I knew I hit the nail on the head. Selene and Zachary must have cut off her funds. I’m assuming a punishment for her treatment of me and the fact that she lied about the Moon Gem. I knew they still loved her because they raised her, but they wouldn’t tolerate disobedience like that. “
“Judy Montague,” Lila said, curling her lip in disgust as she glared at me. “I’m so glad you could join us, and I see you’ve brought Alpha Landry with you as well. Now he can see for himself who the better Luna is.”

“My mate would never choose you over me,” I said through my teeth, both my wolf and magic flaring at the very thought. “You are nothing but a thief and a liar, and the truth will come out soon enough.”
She let out a breathy laugh and shook her head.
“I’m not the one who lies. You literally told everyone that you are the true Blackwell heiress when that isn’t the truth,” she said, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and batting her lashes at me. “You are just a nobody orphan without a family. I’m the true heiress, and I have my brother here to vouch for me.”
“It’s true… Lila is our true sister,” Noah said, his arm tightening around the woman who was nodding as if she had a say in any of this.
My eyes went to Daisy, who stood across the room, still naked with the platter of drinks in hand. Her eyes were glued to Noah, and I could see the pained look on her face. It hurt her that he was with another woman, and the fact that he was flaunting her around when he knew Daisy was here, serving them… it made me feel sick to my stomach.
He was a complete asshole and didn’t deserve any attention.
“I wouldn’t want to be your sister anyway,” I said through my teeth as I narrowed my eyes at Noah. “Being your sister sounds miserable. I’d much rather be a Montague than a Blackwell anyway. But that doesn’t matter right now… what matters is that Lila is not going to be the Luna of Gavin’s territory. As his mate, that title belongs to me.”
“We deserve a stronger choice!” Someone shouted, and it didn’t take me long to figure out that it was Olivia. “You are not fit to be a Luna. You have no training and will lead this pack further into the ground. Lila has done so much for us already, and she deserves our support!”
A cheer rippled through the crowd.
That feeling I felt earlier surged inside of me again, pushing me forward, wanting me to continue, and almost controlling the words that rolled out of my mouth.
“She can’t protect you as I can,” I blurted, not meaning to say those words, but once they were out of my mouth, I realized they were true. I might not have years of Luna training behind me… but I did have years of Gamma training, and I knew with certainty that I could protect this entire territory. “I’m a fighter… I can protect you all. I need you to trust me.”
“Then how about you prove it?” Olivia sneered.
“Prove it how?”
“A fight,” she said, grinning. “A fight to the death.”
“Over my dead body,” Gavin growled, stepping in front of me protectively. “My mate is
