Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 296

Something clenched around Madeline’s heart, hard and unforgiving. She tried to steady her breathing, but when she stood up, she stumbled back a step, completely rattled.

Julian’s eyes sharpened. He reached out just in time, catching her by the arm, and only then did he notice she was shaking all over.

Miles burst into the room, out of breath. “We searched everywhere... There’s still no sign of the boy. Ms. Monroe, are you sure you didn’t imagine it?”

The staff at the Grayson estate would never lay a finger on Madeline or her child unless Julian gave the order. That much was clear. Whatever happened, it wasn’t them.

“No, I’m not mistaken... Julian, you have to believe me. He’s here. I know it, I swear.” Madeline clung to Julian’s shirt, her eyes wide and glassy with fear.

Julian frowned, his face tense. “You checked everywhere?”

“Everywhere people normally go, except for the one room Mrs. Grayson doesn’t let anyone enter.”

Julian’s expression grew darker. He studied Madeline for a moment, and for once, the cold mask he always wore cracked a little. “You heard them. The boy isn’t here. Is it possible the car was switched on the way?”

“No, I’m sure the car wasn’t switched, and I know he’s here. There must be somewhere we’re missing. Please, I’m begging you, can you keep looking? Noah’s in danger...” Madeline’s voice broke, tears welling up in her eyes.

Julian had rarely seen Madeline like this. Something in his chest tightened.

A sharp voice cut through the tension. “How long are you planning to make a scene in my house?”

A staff pushed Lucy into the room, her face set in a look of clear annoyance. She barely spared Madeline a glance before locking eyes with Julian. “Julian, she’s causing trouble again. Are you really going along with this?”

Lucy let out a cold laugh. “Helene warned me about you, Madeline. Always using your child as an excuse to get close to Julian. I never should have let you in. Now you’re even making up stories about your son going missing. Is there anything you won’t stoop to? Using your own child, seriously?”

The words stung. Julian’s face turned even darker.
