Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 464

Claire barely had time to react before gasoline splashed all over her. Her heart sank. This was bad. Across from her, the lunatic already had a lighter in hand.

Helene had gotten plenty of gasoline on herself too. She obviously wanted them to go down together.

She’s gone crazy!

Madeline had just finished dinner with the kids when she wandered over to the window. Rain was starting to fall, just a light drizzle for now, but the sky looked ready to open up any minute.

She’d hoped to eat early and get the kids back to the Grayson place before the weather got worse, but Lucy said she was almost there, so Madeline didn’t push it.

Now, though, Lucy should have shown up by now.

If she didn’t get there soon, they were going to have to head out in a downpour.

Madeline pulled out her phone and dialed Lucy’s number.

It rang and rang. No answer.

What’s going on?

She tried again.

Still nothing.

That was odd.

Madeline called down to the security desk. She’d already told them to let Lucy’s car through whenever it arrived.

The guard told her the car had come in over ten minutes ago.

Madeline hesitated for a moment. “Noah, Oliver, I’m going to go look for your grandma. I want you both to stay inside, okay? If anyone knocks, don’t open the door. Got it?”

The boys nodded. “Okay.”

She grabbed her jacket, locked the door, and headed out. She glanced around the hallway. Julian had bodyguards posted on their floor, standing quietly in the shadows. Madeline trusted they’d keep the kids safe, so she hurried downstairs.

The elevator doors slid open on the ground floor. Outside, she spotted the Grayson car parked at the curb. Lucy’s maid was standing next to it, but Lucy herself was nowhere to be seen.

Madeline went over. “Where’s Mrs. Grayson?”
