Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 463

Lucy didn’t say much, just nodded and motioned for the attendant to step aside.

The attendant moved away, but her thigh smacked right into Helene’s overstuffed bag. She winced, rubbing the sore spot, then glared at the bag and muttered, “What the heck is in there? Feels like a rock.”

Helene started pushing Lucy’s wheelchair outside. The sky was pitch black now. Most people were indoors having dinner and with the storm about to break, the whole place felt empty and weirdly quiet.

As they moved along, Helene’s voice came out soft but heavy. “Mrs. Grayson, can you tell me why everyone’s taking Madeline’s side now? Is it just because she gave the Graysons two kids?”

Lucy let out a long sigh. Helene sounded so breakable, like she might fall apart at any second. Lucy’s tone softened, and she tried to comfort her. “Helene, you need to stop bothering Julian. What’s done is done. None of us should keep holding on to the past. There’s nothing left for you and Julian. You have to let go. Start living for yourself.”

Lucy didn’t see the twisted look on Helene’s face as she pushed the wheelchair from behind. “Oh really? But everything I had was ruined by your son and Madeline. How am I supposed to live with that?”

Lucy tensed, clearly annoyed by the accusation.

What did she mean Julian and Madeline ruined her?

“Helene, that’s not fair. If you hadn’t hurt Madeline first, Julian never would’ve done what he did. You can’t seriously blame anyone else for what happened.” Lucy’s words were stern, her patience running out.

“Sure. Whatever you say.” Helene’s cold laugh sent a chill through the air.

Lucy shivered as a damp wind brushed her shoulders, suddenly realizing how dark it was all around them.

Helene kept pushing the wheelchair, heading somewhere Lucy didn’t recognize.

This was a brand new development and most of the buildings in the back were still empty. There weren’t even any streetlights.

“Helene…”

Helene stopped abruptly, spun the wheelchair around so Lucy was facing her.

Her eyes were wild with anger. “But do you know what Julian did, Mrs. Grayson? He was brutal. He tortured me for that bitch. Do you even know how I survived these last two months?”

There was no one around. Lucy’s heart started to race as she realized just how unstable Helene seemed. She tried to stay calm, her voice gentle. “Helene, listen. It’s way too dark out here. Please, just take me back. We can talk about this somewhere safe, okay?”

“Talk? You want to talk?” Helene let out a sharp, bitter laugh. She turned the wheelchair again and rolled it deeper into the darkness. “What’s wrong, Mrs. Grayson? Are you scared?”

“Helene, please don’t do anything crazy. If Julian finds out, he won’t let this go…”
