“Ms. Monroe?” came the voice on the line.

She smiled. “Got it, I’ll head over in a bit.”

“Great, Ms. Monroe. I’ll let the front desk know you’re coming.”

She ended the call and shook her head, brow raised at her phone. Honestly, it made sense that Miles lasted so long at Julian’s side. Anyone that sharp was bound to stick around.

Her assistant knocked on the door and stepped in. “Ms. Monroe, Ms. Mullins wanted to know if you’d like to join her for lunch.”

“Not today. I’ve got some things to take care of.”

“Alright.”

Madeline grabbed her coat and left the office.

About thirty minutes later, she arrived at Grayson Enterprises.

Thanks to Miles calling ahead, Madeline was welcomed politely and shown straight to the elevators. Before she stepped inside, she caught a bit of the receptionists whispering to each other.

“Miles said she’s Mr. Grayson’s wife.”

“She looks so classy, but isn’t she the woman from the news? The one they said hurt Mrs. Grayson?”

“Keep it down. Mr. Grayson already clarified she was set up. The police haven’t even made a decision yet. We shouldn’t gossip, or it’ll get back to the boss.”

Madeline listened but didn’t let it bother her. When the elevator arrived, she walked in and pressed the button for the top floor.
