Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 586

Miles couldn’t help but smirk a little when he saw the look on Julian’s face. He was clearly flustered, and Miles found it kind of amusing.

Madeline was just about to wake the kids when the bedroom door swung open. Julian burst in, not even wearing a shirt, his toned chest on full display. She barely had time to turn around before he was right in front of her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.

“What...” Madeline’s eyes widened as she looked up at him. She tried to push him away. “Why are you here? Didn’t you just say you didn’t want to see me… Wait—”

Julian silenced her with a kiss, his lips soft and warm against hers. Madeline tried to push him off, but he caught her wrist and gently moved her hand up around his neck. Her body trembled, caught between wanting to resist and the way he was holding her so tightly. His kiss started out gentle, then deepened, making her heart race.

She had no clue what had gotten into him this time. All she could think about was not waking the kids, so she kept her voice and movements as quiet as possible.

“Julian…” she whispered when he finally let her breathe.

He rested his forehead against hers, his voice low and sincere. “It’s not that I don’t want to see you. I just have some things I need to figure out. I didn’t know how to explain, and I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you. Please don’t be mad, okay?”

“So… is this your explanation?” she asked, raising her brows.

“I’ll explain everything once I’ve sorted it out,” he promised.

Madeline looked up at him. With him saying it like that, what else could she say? “Alright.”

“I have to step out for a bit. There’s something I need to take care of. Just stay here and rest today, okay? We’ll head back tomorrow.”

He ran his fingers through her hair, soft and careful. Before he left, he said, “I’ll come back early tonight and spend time with you.”

Madeline turned away, pretending not to care. “Who says I want you to?”

Julian just laughed. “Well, I want to.”

She didn’t answer.

At the Ballard family estate, Maxwell sat in the main hall. Claire walked in and spotted him on the sofa, his face clouded with anger. A flicker of fear made her hesitate before she finally walked over, careful not to move too fast because of the injury on her back. By the time she reached him, Maxwell had already been staring at her for a while.
