The Alpha Twins' Elusive Mate novel Chapter 3

Fiona

I stare at the knife in her hand, wondering what on earth I have done to be in the presence of one so evil.-

I jut out my chin in what I hope is a defiant stance. "Well, if you haven't noticed, I'm all drained out. I'm not about to die for your obsession."

I try to weave around her once again, but she growls and wraps an arm around my neck.

Her lips brush my ear as she whispers, "You will do as I say, or you will die anyway."

I scream as a pain erupts from my thigh. She's actually stabbed me. I wriggle and fight for freedom, but between the pain in my leg and her arm around my throat, I don't get enough space to do anything.

"Let me go!" I scream, then reach deep into myself for the only thing that can help me. My wolf.

Alice simply pulls out the knife and sticks it back into me again, this time on my hip.

I scream again as pain runs through my leg and up my body until it gets to my brain. A pressure starts to build within me, answering the call of my pain.

It rushes through me, filling my blood with adrenaline. The pain disappears, replaced with a frenzy that only bloodshed can quench.

Claws burst out of my fingers and toes. My shoes rip apart, and a howl comes out of my throat.

In a split second, I've successfully broken free of Alice's hold and thrown her to the ground beneath me. The impact makes her lose her grip on her knife, and she looks up at me with fear in her eyes.

"That's what you get for getting me angry!" I roar into her face. She shuts her eyes and turns her face away, obviously too much of a coward to look at me.

"You want some of my blood? Fine. Here," I use my hand to catch some of the blood running down my leg and bring it to her lips, "here's some blood." I rub my bloodied hand all over her face, enjoying the way the squirms around on the ground, trying to get away from me.

I quickly pick up the knife she was using to threaten me and give it back to her—straight through her hand.

Her scream is exquisite.

Done, I push off the floor and make my exit. I turn around at the door and tell her "Enjoy your ceremony," and then leave.

I seldom lose my temper like that, but Grundy—my wolf—doesn't take kindly to pain. She would have preferred to dice Alice into bits, but I can’t have blood on my hands, especially not in a land where I'm already despised so much.

As I step though a darkened path which I hope leads away from this place, Harry steps out of nowhere and into my path.

I stop my hastened steps before I slam into his wide chest. He reaches out and grabs me by the arms, eyes wide and bright.

"What are you doing out here?" he asks, looking all over me with far more concern than I have ever seen him with. Why does he keep confusing me like this?

Frustrated, I push him away. "Stop this."

"Stop what?" His eyebrows kiss as he looks at me.

"This whole thing you've been doing throughout today. Caring for me one moment and treating me like total dog poop the next. It might look like fun to you, but it isn't funny at all to me," I say in a rush.

"Fiona, calm down. What's the matter?" He reaches out to touch me again—

"Where are you!" Alice shouts from a distance.
