Tristan's POV:
My hold around her neck had her gasping for air, but it didn't make me loosen my grip. Her skin felt soft under my palms, too soft and warm I was afraid my hands might go straight through her skin. She was more pale than I had assumed and I was pretty sure my palms were going to leave a mark around her neck if I didn't let go soon. She also looked confused.
Too confused for a woman that should have spent months planning her wedding to me. There was no excitement in her eyes, just confusion mixed with sadness. It made me question who she was.
“Do you know who you are?” I asked, and the way that her eyes widened in shock led me to believe she had not been expecting me to speak.
“I know that you're Reece Alderman,” she said instead and her response caused me to loosen my grip on her neck.
I continued to hover over her as I let my eyes run through her soft features.
She didn't answer my question, I wasn't Reece Alderman and I knew that she wasn't Kayla Peters too, the woman that had been promised to Reece Alderman. If it wasn't for the unrest in my stomach I would have laughed at our situation.
Two people getting married in place of two other people.
Kayla Peters was a woman who came from wealth, she was every man's desire, with her strength and beauty and best of all she was an Alpha like her father. Every other strong Alpha yearned to be the father to her children because they would produce such healthy and strong babies. Kayla Peters would never settle for a man like Reece Alderman even if her life were on the line.
Reece Alderman was a Ruffian. Every woman’s nightmare.
But it was different with the woman underneath me. The pheromones from this woman had hit me from the moment she had walked into the room from the bathroom naked and that scent of hers made me want to breed her. She was an Omega.
Sighing heavily, I moved off her completely, not missing the sigh of relief that escaped her lips and I moved to settle on the bed, away from her. Everything was going alright at the moment, so there was no need to ruin anything. She didn’t need to know who I was and I was fine with pretending to think she was Kayla.
She turned her back to me and I watched her for some time, taking note of how petite she was. She was petite but she also had the perfect hips to carry a child, it was almost as if she had been carved by the Goddess, I watched her some more but soon my eyes began falling and I succumbed to sleep when it came.
Kimani’s POV:
It was a long time after, but when I couldn’t feel the burning gaze on my back anymore I took a breath in before turning around quietly, the sight of him sleeping peacefully stunned me for a moment.
He was very attractive and I had been able to see his face properly for the first time when he had hovered above me earlier, his general appearance was rough, and it made me question some things, but he was also really attractive, just in a rough way.
However, as he slept peacefully beside me, I couldn’t help but notice how different he looked as he slept, gone was the anger I had seen burning in his eyes, or the wrinkles that had formed as a result of the frown that had painted his face. His lips were slightly parted instead of pursed dangerously and as soft snores escaped his lips, it made me less afraid of him, which I wasn’t sure if it was a good or bad thing.
