The Billionaire and His PA novel Chapter 36

Still feeling absolutely flustered, Cassie began to walk back to Felix’s office taking her time so that she could compose herself before she got back to the office. She would probably have to bleach her eyes to get the image of the fucking duo out of her brain. She, along with everyone else that had attended the meeting held on her first day of work, knew that Luther and Emerald were not-so-secretly fucking. Still, it was one thing to know about the office romance, another thing to witness it happening first hand and yet another thing to be invited to partake in the debauchery. When she had first been aware of Luther and Emerald’s sexual escapades, she had no idea that Luther was married. Most men his age were usually married but when it became obvious that he was sleeping with Emerald, she had unconsciously conditioned her mind to believe that he was a single man. The fact that he had the audacity to cheat on his wife, while she was not only in the same building but just a few feet away, was disgusting, deplorable and disgraceful. Bethany might have been a terrible woman but no one deserved to be cheated on.

She opened the door and slipped in. She found Bethany kneeling on the floor as she tried to put the spilled contents of her bag back inside, after accidentally knocking it over in a drunken haze.

Bethany looked up at the sound of the door closing. “Well, don’t just stand there.” She huffed. “Get over here and help me.”

As Cassie dutifully helped to put Bethany’s things in order, she contemplated what to do with the information she had. Should she tell Bethany about her husband’s infidelity? She had made up her mind on the matter by the time she had put the last item into the bag and zipped it up. She wouldn’t say a word to Bethany. Everyone that had attended Luther’s meeting that Monday was fully aware of what was going on between Emerald and Luther as they didn’t seem surprised when the two of them walked back into the conference room with various telltale signs of their lustful break. Even Felix had been present that day, so theoretically, he should know about the affair. If the woman’s own son was unbothered about the whole thing, then there was no need for her to be riled up about it. Besides, it was either Bethany was completely clueless about the affair or she already knew about it but didn’t concern herself with it. She decided to keep her mouth shut as she handed Bethany her bag.

Shakily, Bethany stood to her feet. Cassie supported her but she tried swatting her hands away, insisting that she could stand on her own. Cassie ignored her protests and helped her to her feet, but Bethany still wobbled as she stood.

“Get me the file over there.” She instructed pointing at Felix’s table.

Cassie steered her away from the coffee table so that even if she fell, she wouldn’t hit her head on any of the table’s corners. She retrieved the file and then stared at it. When she walked in and had seen Bethany clutching the file close to herself, she had originally assumed that the file belonged to Bethany but seeing it up close, she realized that it wasn’t hers but Felix’s. It was sealed so she couldn’t tell what was inside it. “This is one of Felix’s.” She stated as she approached Bethany.

Bethany made many attempts to snatch the file away from Cassie hands and was only eventually successful because Cassie placed it gently in her hands. “Don’t you think I know that?” She hissed. “I’m driving over to his place to give it to him.”

Cassie frowned at her. “But, Felix is out of the country and wouldn’t be back until next week.” She mused.

Bethany looked up from struggling with her bag’s zipper long enough to roll her eyes at Cassie. “I know that. I’m just dropping it at his place for him.” She said. She had been able to open the bag and put the file inside but she had given up on zipping the bag back up.

Cassie nodded. If she knew the type of relationship that existed between mother and son, she would have known that Bethany was lying. Bethany had never been able to get Felix’s address, no matter how much she pried, sulked and threatened. It was one of the places that Felix felt completely at peace and he had no intentions of giving out his address to anyone incase his mother got a wind of it. Even the girls from Fantasies that came to his place were picked up at a different location and then driven to his place in a car with blacked out windows. There were only three sets of people that knew the location of his house: people from his insurance company, people from the house cleaning service he used and driver that drove the Fantasies girls.

Bethany began her unsteady walk to the door.

“Are you leaving already, Mrs. Hart?” Cassie asked. She could barely keep the excitement out of her voice.

“Yes. After I go to Felix’s place, I’m driving to a party at a friend’s penthouse. I would have let you tag along so that you could help set up the place but you’re so shabbily dressed and I won’t have you disgracing me.”

Cassie ignored the jab, choosing instead to focus on a more disturbing part of Bethany’s words. “You’re driving?”

“I have a car, so I don’t see why not.”

“You’re drunk.” Cassie stated. “You’re not supposed to drive while drunk.”
