The Billionaire and His PA novel Chapter 65

There were many events that had the ability to alter the employee-employer dynamic: suddenly becoming in-laws, blackmail and having sexual a relationship. Cassie knew of these three things but had been completely unaware of the fourth – letting her employer cry on her shoulder in the middle of the night, sleep on her couch and then, take her and her siblings out for ice cream. She hadn’t thought that she and Felix’s dynamic would change as he had said more words to her siblings than to her at the ice cream store but it had changed.

She would have never been able to predict just how different things would be when she had been sitting across him at Frozen Treats, slowing savoring the strawberry ice cream in front of her. She still couldn’t believe that he had remembered her preferred ice cream flavor. Or that he had reached over to wipe a dollop of ice cream from the corner of her mouth and her stupid body had just had to react by deciding to blush at the gesture. She had never been more grateful for her siblings who were quick to pull Felix’s attention back to themselves and away from her reddening face.

“Take your time, Cassie.” Felix mumbled under his breath.

She frowned at him. He didn’t even turn around to look at her but she could see the beginning of a satisfied smirk start to form at the corner of his lips. She turned back to focus on the notepad before her. It had been six minutes and she still didn’t know the next move to make. They were stuck waiting for a meeting to start, and they had been playing X and O. So far, Cassie was yet to win a single round. It had started with her doodling on the notepad, and when she had taken her eyes off it for less than a minute to check the time on her phone, she had noticed that Felix had started the game. She couldn’t say what it was but it was more than just boredom that had made her continue the game with him.

After a few more seconds of scowling at the notepad, Cassie finally put down an O. She nudged the book toward Felix who barely looked at it before putting down an X. When he slid the book back to her, Cassie saw that he had once again backed her into a corner. No matter what move she made, he would still have another play to make. In the end, he would win again.

“Are you using sorcery or are you a mind reader?” She asked, putting down her O and accepting her defeat.

“Neither.” Felix said. Even though he had won every single round, he never penned down the winning letter. He just left it blank and started a new game but it was always clear to both player who the winner was. “It’s just a simple tactic. My cousin thought me how to play to win when we were kids.” His words surprised him. He hadn’t thought about his cousin, Eliza Callahan, in years. He remembered how she had thought him many other things like how to riding a bike, swim in the deep end of the pool and sneak out of the house without his parents ever finding out. He hated that he didn’t talk to her anymore and hated even more that it had been his fault that they had stopped talking.

“Will you teach me?” Cassie asked. She was tied of losing to him but couldn’t figure out how he kept winning. She thought it nice that although he didn’t let her win, he also didn’t seem enthusiastic about rubbing her defeat in her face.

Felix shrugged. “Why not? But I’ll have to win a couple more rounds first and enjoy my reign of victory while it lasts.” He finished drawing the table for next round and slid the notebook back to her to find that her face was scrunched up in the most adorable pout her had ever seen.

He was still deciding whether or not to react to her face when a man and a woman entered the conference room and brought the chatter to a halt. The two of them were dressed in grey suits and looked so put together that one could almost make the mistake that they were headed for a magazine’s photo shoot rather than a business meeting.

“Remind me again what this meeting is about?” Luther asked, leaning towards Emerald.
