The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 112

Cordelia was in a good mood, getting up before the crack of dawn to whip up breakfast for Ronan. Today, she went all out and prepared a feast for two, complete with a seafood platter, roast chicken, and mashed potatoes. Plus, she brewed some coffee for Ronan.

Being the CEO and all, he had a ton on his plate, not to mention he was a guy, so he probably ate like a horse.

As Ronan came down for breakfast, his gaze fell on the lunchboxes by the table. "Are you trying to pull a fast one on me again?" Ronan asked her.

"Nope, our meals are exactly the same." Cordelia opened the lunchbox to show him.

Ronan didn't say anything, but he looked pretty pleased.

After a moment of thought, Cordelia asked, "Where... where did you go with Deanna the other day? The day when she had the meal I prepared."

"It was the anniversary of her father's passing."

"Oh," Cordelia seemed somewhat disappointed.

What a coincidence. That day was also the anniversary of Cordelia's father's passing, but she never told Ronan about it. Ronan chose to accompany his first love, Deanna, back to Birchwood instead of being with her. She had seen it coming.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Cordelia forced a smile onto her face.

"By the way, I want to return the clothes you bought for me last time. They're too flashy and not really my style. Plus, they're way too expensive," Cordelia said. "What do you think?"

"Sure, I'll have someone help you return them," Ronan said. He was in the middle of negotiating the acquisition of a mall, so it shouldn't be a problem.

But they both knew, Jamie had seen these clothes, which made them feel rather uncomfortable.

"No need, I can go to the mall myself while doing some shopping." Cordelia wasn't accustomed to having personal attendants.

"Also, where did you put his books and notes you brought back yesterday?" Ronan asked casually as he continued eating.

Cordelia thought, “No wonder he didn't get mad when I brought it up the other day. He's been planning to ask me all along. He's such a nitpicker, never letting anything slide.”

With a disheartened voice, she said, "The notebook is in the office, and the books are in the suitcase."

"Hmm." Ronan nodded in understanding. How he would deal with this would depend on his mood.

Arriving at the company, Jordan discreetly told Cordelia about her raise.
