The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 231

Lumos Enterprises.

After Barney’s funeral, it took Ronan a while to regain his composure. But he thought to himself, he had been good to Barney, never letting him suffer in the slightest. Although in Barney's lifetime, he had once knelt down for the sake of Olen, but that was all in the past.

The assistant entered Ronan's office. "Mr. Evans, Jamie is back from the States, with a massive suitcase in tow. It looks like he's not planning on going back to America. It's just..." the assistant hesitated.

"Just what?"

"Just that... Your ex-wife came back with him. Seems like they visited the gynecologist today, probably for a prenatal check-up," the assistant added.

Ronan smirked coldly. So, they came back together? Just like a perfect couple, they were clearly trying to rub their happiness in his face.

Originally, he didn’t want to interfere too much with Cordelia's life. He knew she was upset, so he intentionally let her go to America to ease her mood. He didn't mind when she didn’t attend the school he had arranged for her. He also didn't contact her, fearing it would make her change schools again. After all, her beloved mother ended up in a tragic death, and he tolerated her because of that. But he didn't expect Jamie to also go to California. He assumed America was so big, that they wouldn't run into each other. Yet, they even managed to have a baby!

He was being cuckolded!

For the first time in his life, Ronan was furious. He wished he could tear Cordelia to pieces. He had planned to bring Jamie back from America and leave Cordelia alone there, but to his surprise, she had returned as well.

"Should we continue to keep tabs on them?" the assistant asked Ronan.

"No need," Ronan said, tossing his lighter onto the table.

Once Shelley died, Cordelia was no longer under his control. She could sleep with whoever she wanted, and have a child with whoever she wanted.

...

The moment Jamie returned, he immediately started arranging the new firm. He often consulted with Cordelia.

Cordelia rented a one-bedroom apartment, which was inevitably lonely. Moreover, being pregnant, she needed someone to take care of her. Jamie was worried about Cordelia's situation. She was partnering with Jamie to open a firm, and she didn't look for another job. Moreover, most employers were reluctant to hire pregnant women.

"How did it go? Have you had the surgery?" One time, Jamie visited Cordelia's place and asked her anxiously.
