The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 444

The car roared to life, and twenty minutes later, they arrived at the Empower Operations Tower.

Bidding Harold a reluctant farewell, Samantha turned to face her mother, Sienna.

"Samantha, you have to acknowledge who's responsible for everything that's happened today. Don't make a fool of yourself," Sienna advised.

Taken aback, Samantha retorted, "What have I done to deserve such harsh words? Are you suggesting that I owe everything to others? That I'm useless?"

"Don't forget why Alana brought you here. She wanted you to help Cordelia and Harold get together, not to find a boyfriend for yourself. And this man you've chosen? He's a spendthrift. Does he have a house? A car? Savings?" Sienna's tone shifted abruptly from her earlier politeness to Harold, showing a more petty side. "Don't ruin your future for a shortcut to happiness."

"Enough, Mom!" Samantha exclaimed exasperatedly. "Go shopping or something!"

With a huff, Sienna got out of the car and headed towards the shopping district.

Samantha's car remained parked opposite the Empower Operations building. Harold would have to leave work at some point, and she was willing to wait the entire afternoon if necessary.

Upon arriving at Empower Operations, Harold met Peter, who was impressed by his handsome features and brisk demeanor. Peter assigned him to a variety of tasks to familiarize him with the office environment. "We'll be signing a contract with Lumos Enterprises soon. You'll be in charge of serving water," Peter instructed.

"No problem," Harold agreed readily. His mood lifted at the mention of Lumos Enterprises. He was excited about the prospect of meeting Mr. Evans, who he learned had been in Birchwood for a business partnership with Empower Operations. Of course, running into Cordelia would make his day even better.

As he entered the conference room to serve water, he noticed Cordelia engrossed in reviewing documents. Her glasses were perched on her nose. Her studious appearance was enticing, and Harold felt a rush of excitement. She exuded an aura of tranquility that put him at ease, a feeling he had never experienced before.
