The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 577

Petra’s visit to Ronan was far from innocent, no matter what she claimed. She knew full well about the misunderstanding between Cordelia and Ronan, and her plan was to fan the flames. She couldn’t wait for the day when a fake marriage certificate would turn into a real divorce decree—that would be her ultimate victory!

“Should I come by again?” Petra asked Ronan, a hint of eagerness in her voice.

“In the future? I’ll call if I need you,” Ronan replied, sounding indifferent.

“Okay, I’ll be on standby,” Petra said, pretending to be eager to help, even though she was secretly plotting her next move. For now, she would lay low and wait for the perfect moment to push Cordelia out of the picture.

She needed to bide her time and save her strength.

...

Outside Lumos Enterprises.

“Cordelia, where are you rushing off to? Forgot about our lunch date?” Milana called out just as Cordelia was about to enter the lobby.

Cordelia had indeed forgotten.

“Oh, look at me, it totally slipped my mind,” Cordelia said, her smile returning as she greeted Milana.

“Come on, I’ve got us a spot,” Milana said, guiding Cordelia to her car with a gentle hand on her back.

Milana had booked a table at a cozy little Italian bistro. They sat against the wall, and Cordelia felt a wave of calm wash over her.

She reassured herself: Millstone was home, a place filled with familiar faces. Birchwood had her grandfather’s legacy and his university, but it wasn’t where her heart belonged.

“Cordelia, I’ve seen your resume from Ms. Emily. Graduated from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, quite impressive. You’ve been out of touch for a few years, no updates at all,” Milana said casually as they ate.
