The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 639

Emerson strolled casually toward Daniella's office, hands tucked in his pockets. He rapped lightly on the door.

"Come in," came a woman's voice from inside.

He stepped in and saw Daniella holding two wires, testing their connection. Sparks hissed as they met, and then she separated them again.

They say a man absorbed in his work is a sight to behold, but right then, Emerson found a woman deep in her craft equally mesmerizing.

Without a word, he made himself comfortable on the sofa next to her office, legs crossed, his gaze fixed on Daniella.

After finishing her task, Daniella finally looked up and noticed Emerson. Her stern expression instantly brightened upon seeing him.

"Hey, Uncle E, you're here? No heads-up before dropping by?" Daniella rose from her chair and fetched Emerson a glass of water.

Her sudden enthusiasm made Emerson suspicious; he knew she must be angling for a favor.

"Didn't want to interrupt your groove. You're into tech stuff?" Emerson took the glass, probing further.

"Yep, studied electrical engineering in college, drone technology for grad school."

"You've finished grad school?" Emerson asked, taken aback. She looked no older than twenty-something, more like an undergrad than a graduate.

Daniella's face lit up with pride. "Thanks for the compliment, Uncle!"

"What did I compliment you on?"

"For having the secret to eternal youth." She raised her eyebrows smugly.

"What do you need from me?" Emerson cut to the chase. He had a feeling that if the conversation went on, he might fall into one of this girl's clever traps.

"Oh, right. I was at Mr. Evans' place the other day, and Callum asked me for a drone. I had the tech department whip one up just for him. Can you deliver it?" Daniella's tone was unusually straightforward.

Emerson remained silent.
