The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 1289

Byran, driven by curiosity, said, "I'm gonna sneak upstairs for a look."

Carlos tried to stop him. "I think you'd better stay in your room; don’t bother Balfour.”

Byran shrugged him off. “Don’t worry! I just wanna eavesdrop a bit to see if Balfour is talking to someone I know. He won't notice."

Carlos wanted to stop him, but Byran was too quick.

Upstairs, in Balfour's room.

Balfour had just peeled an orange and gently offered it to the girl in his room. "Ellinor, would you like an orange?"

Ellinor dismissed it with a wave of her hand. "Thanks, but I'm not hungry."

Balfour looked a bit disappointed but didn't get angry. He put the orange on the table and offered her a glass of milk instead. "How about a little milk?"

Ellinor accepted the milk but didn't drink it and put it back on the table. "Mr. Howard, you don't have to be so polite."

Balfour sighed. "I'm not being polite; I'm just concerned about you."

Ellinor stared at him, her eyes icy. "Well, thanks for the concern and for coming to pick me up."

"You don't have to be polite with me. I'm glad you turned to me when you needed help."

Actually, Ellinor didn't want to.

But when Theo trapped her in the car and didn't let her go, there was no one she could think of that could stand up to Theo.

If she asked Chase, Ida, or Bartlett for help, they wouldn't be able to do much.
