As he observes her, Adams couldn't fathom what was happening but all he knows is that she has changed from the girl he used to know. Although he had begun noticing this change a few weeks ago, he hadn't thought it was going to be this bad since he had always known Alexandra was head over heels in love with him and thought he would use that to his advantage.
"Here I got you this chocolate"
"I don't eat sweets"
"Is your favorite"
"When I was 12 Adam"
"Just take a bite, you will like it"
"Is sugary, I don't drown myself in sugar"
Adams frowns, his face saddens, she was going a bit too much with rejecting him. Seeing the look on his face, Alexandra smiles and takes the box of chocolate, she didn't want to be that hard on him and put him on spot instead she wanted to torture him slowly, that way he will get to feel the same pain she had felt when he ripped her heart out.
"I will have your box of chocolate because I'm hungry and craving sweets right now"
Adams smiles, "you will love this"
Opening the chocolate, she takes a bite as he gawks at her.
"Good, right?"
"Yes," she catches a glimpse of the injuries on his body "How are you doing?" She reclines back in her seat
"I'm fine"
She smiled sweetly at him."I meant your injuries, hope is healing quickly?"
"Yes"
"Does it still hurt?" She feigns to be concerned
"Not that but a few stings here and there"
"I bet is because it's lacking something"
"What is it?" He asks, curious
"My secret recipe" she smiles sweetly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, winking at him.
…….
Nathaniel sits by the bar sipping a glass of martini and staring into space. Although he was angry at Alexandra he never expected to lose his temper and lash out at her. All he wanted was to let her see what harm she had done to Olivia.
Even though Nathaniel knew Alexandra and Olivia didn't have that kind of close relationship and Olivia had bad-mouthed Alexandra in front of him, he had thought Alexandra had gotten her fair share of revenge when she went to the council that day to pull that stunt and he didn't stop her though he had tried to question her motive to which she had kicked against and he had dropped it thinking it had all ended.
Nathaniel didn't expect her to pull another stunt, this time he felt she went a bit far especially with the aphrodisiac, not because of the effect it had done on him but because of the damage that would happen to Olivia if those guards didn't show up, those rogues, were certainly not going to let her go and would have resulted to probably killing Adam and possessing her.
He gulps down his drink and the waiter pours another drink for him.
"Are you still mad at me?" He smiles and the waiter gazes at him
Nathaniel runs his hand through his hair, hating to have lost his temper, and bites his lips wishing he could go back in time to that day and then he won't make the same mistake again.
Despite his temper, he wouldn't have wanted to lash out at her by saying hurtful words at her, maybe he would have handled the situation differently, that way he would have reasoned with her rather than shouted at her. Nathaniel gulps down another glass and the waiter doesn't hesitate to refill.
"Are you still pissed off at me? Have you thought about me?" He thinks to himself, closing his eyes for a moment imagining Alexandra sitting next to him staring into his eyes like she often does.
"What are you looking at?" He frowns pretending not to like her presence
"If you didn't want me here, why did you keep thinking about me and then made me come?"
"I didn't, is you who wouldn't leave my mind"
Alexandra scoffs and Nathaniel smiles, it felt so real.
"So now you are blaming me"
"Of course, who else will I blame? You are the one making me sit in this bar drinking all to myself when I should be by your side"
"Do you miss me?" She asks
"I don't know, do you miss me?"
"You're so cheap Nathaniel, I asked you first"
"You're the first person you know" He gazes into her eyes as if she was there "You're the first person to call me by name and doesn't get punished, the first woman to dare defy me"
"Do I know? Have you told the real me?"
"No, I haven't"
"Why?"
"Maybe it is not the right time. Maybe she wouldn't believe" he gulps down the drink and the waiter refills another glass and leaves.
"Alexandra isn't like that and you know it"
"What is she like? I want to know"
"How can I tell you when I'm only what your mind created? Why don't you go over to her? I'm sure you are missing her"
"Why must I go over all the time? Why can't she come over? How am I even sure she's missing me and not probably thinking about another man"
She chuckled. "You're jealous"
"No, I'm not"
"How can you be jealous and still deny it? It doesn't make sense and also you haven't brought her to your pack yet"
