The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha novel Chapter 7

Bewildered, Alexandra gawks at him, never did she have expected him to jump right into it, even though she was aware she would have to tell him who Adam was since they were getting married. Alexandra didn't think it was relevant to talk about a man who meant nothing to her.

"Who?" Alexandra asks, feigning ignorance.

There was no way she was going to talk about Adams with him at that moment. Adams was her past and she wanted him to remain there until she gives him a taste of his own medicine.

"The man earlier"

"His name is Adam"

"Do you love him"

"What makes you think that I do?"

"I'm not thinking anything, just curious"

"Why?"

"I saw the way he looked at you. The anger in his eyes when you told him, I'm your mate"

Alexandra frowns. "Don't bother yourself with him"

"I'm not. I'm worried about you"

"You're worried about me" she states, uncertain.

"Your feelings. I'm worried about your feelings so that's why I'm asking if you love him"

Alexandra smiles but it didn't reach her eyes, love was a wicked word for naive little girls and she was no longer that girl. The invisible marks it had left on her body had made her cold, turning her heart to stone with her mind craving for nothing but revenge against the people who ruined her life.

Dropping her gaze at him, she stares at the river, jealous over the calm river, a lot of things of run-through her mind.

"Love is a word for naive little girls"

"Don't you believe in it?"

Glancing over at him, Alexandra wonders what was running through his mind.

"Do you?"

"What do you think?"

"I don't know Nathaniel"

"So do you love him?"

Feeling a rush of anger as old memories jump into her mind, Alexandra molds her fist tightly, the mere thought of Adam infuriates her and she doesn't need to hide her hatred towards him.

She gave him her heart and he ripped it apart without blinking an eye, shattering the little dream she had about love.

"Is there such thing as love?" She states with spite

Observing her intently, Nathaniel could see the hate running in her eyes, without a doubt that he must have poked a delicate part of her life, blinking his eyes, pushing off the urge to ask another question.

"You don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable"

Locking eyes with him, Alexandra stares deep into his eyes, her face cold and unblinking. "I don't love him"

Nathaniel gulps down the lump in his throat. Without uttering a word, attempts to walk away but Alexandra holds his eyes.

"You're leaving?"

"Yes"

"Do you have an appointment?"

"That depends, why?" He

"Nothing" she loosens her grip causing Nathaniel to chuckle, he could tell what was running through her mind.

"Okay then, see you, Alexandra"

Alexandra nods affirmatively, staring at him as he turns to depart.

She shoots sharply. "Come with me"

Bewildered, Nathaniel looks at her.
