A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 245

After Matilda dropped Logan off at home, she quickly started to change her clothes and freshen up. A curious Logan asked her what was up, to which she replied that she was attending a celebratory bash tonight. Her game studio's latest release had become a smash hit, and it was time to party in style.

Logan pouted, "I wish Uncle Adrian could hang out with me instead."

Matilda rapped him gently on the forehead. "I'll deal with you later. If I get back early, I'll bring you some barbecue."

"Deal!" Logan perked up at the mention of barbecue. "Then go have fun, and come back soon!"

Slipping into a chic dress and a trench coat, Matilda hurriedly left the house with Orson. She evened out the height difference with Orson a bit by putting on heels, and they turned heads as they strutted down the street to hail a cab.

They arrived at the private room where Yoshi was belting out a tune so painfully off-key that Hala lost patience and lobbed an ashtray at him, shouting, "Shut it!"

Yoshi, looking forlorn, turned to Matilda, "Goddess, do you see how vicious Hala is?"

Matilda just laughed and took a seat. Luna was ogling her, "Wow, didn't realize you were so stacked!"

Baxter couldn't help but chuckle, "Well, she is the goddess. It's only right she's the face of our studio!"

Hala chimed in, "Not bad in the chest department."

Orson caught himself sneakily glancing at her figure before quickly looking away, cursing inwardly for not having noticed sooner.

As the night progressed, more VIPs crammed into the room, and the older execs crooned cheesy love ballads. The younger crew, including Matilda and her friends, lively engaged in dice games and drinking, creating a buzzing atmosphere.

"I won, I won!" Luna cheered, gloating to Yoshi, "Did you see that? I beat Orson!"

Orson passed the dice cup to Matilda, "I lost, your turn."

"If you lose, you drink!" Luna pointed at the beer pitcher. "No cheating!"

Matilda just smiled, but as the game went on, her smile slowly faded.
