A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 255

When Matilda clocked in at work the next day, an unexpected visitor turned up at the office.

It was Mia.

This time, she lacked her usual brash confidence, likely a result of being betrayed by her own agent and her failed attempt to smear Matilda, which only backfired and exposed her own wrongdoings.

So she arrived incognito, hidden behind sunglasses, a stark contrast to her typically bold makeup.

She waited in the lobby for a long time with no attention and eventually headed straight to their workspace, where the team was huddled around a large table engrossed in their tasks. Orson was still dozing off, while Baxter glanced up briefly, adjusted his glasses, and went back to work without a ripple of interest.

Mia scanned the room, finding it odd that no one acknowledged her.

Luna, known for her straightforwardness, didn't bother with pleasantries. As for Hala, she couldn't care less about the likes of Mia, choosing to ignore her entirely. Mia felt snubbed but never considered how she'd given Matilda the same cold shoulder on the reality show.

Mia's voice was low as she called out, “Matilda.”

Matilda pointed to herself, “You talking to me?”

Mia gritted her teeth, “Yes.”

Matilda chuckled, “Sorry, but I've got nothing to say to you.”

Mia was taken aback by Matilda’s blunt refusal and her face fell. She raised her voice, “What's that supposed to mean?”

Matilda stayed silent.

The whole studio continued to ignore Mia.

Frustrated, Mia marched over to Matilda's desk, “Stand up!”

She'd never seen such audacity from someone so desperate. Matilda scoffed, “Let go.”

Mia's eyebrows shot up, “Matilda, I'm here as a courtesy. Don’t push your luck!”

Matilda was known for her patience, but Luna wasn’t having any of it. She slammed her hand on the table and stood up, “Did we freaking ask for your visit? Keep it up and we’ll have security throw you out!”

Mia was taken aback by Luna's confrontation, her face stiffening as she yelled, “What do you want from me?”

Hala lazily glanced at her, “What do YOU want?”

“Why are you hiring trolls on Facebook to smear me?”

Mia's voice broke, on the verge of tears, “Do you have any idea how hard it is for me?”

“Oh, poor baby.”
