A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 277

He pinned Matilda down, and immediately, her mind flashed back to the dream she had the night before, her breathing becoming erratic.

Alone with a man in such close quarters... was this some kind of rebellion?

Adrian felt it too.

The moment he got close to Matilda, he could sense his blood starting to boil.

Every man seemed to want to be the ghost beneath her skirts.

She had that uncanny ability, despite being the center of numerous scandals, her name synonymous with salacious gossip and her love life fodder for the tabloids, to still make men want to willingly give up everything for her.

To go through hell and high water, to spend fortunes, to squander their wealth, and even to die for her.

Adrian fancied himself a respectable figure on the surface, at least a handsome fixture in their social sphere, but whenever he saw Matilda, he felt no different than any other hound in heat.

From the moment he first laid eyes on her, he wanted her by any means necessary.

As their bodies pressed close, all the unspeakable thoughts began to seep from the cracks of his heart, filling every corner of his being.

Adrian's voice was hoarse, "Matilda, do you know what I dreamt about last night?"

His words carried a lethal seductiveness.

This man was dangerous through and through, and Matilda knew she shouldn't get too close. But in that moment, as the world pointed fingers and the skies seemed to crumble, she was trapped in a corner of the universe with him, his presence overwhelming her senses.

Tears welled in Matilda's eyes, clearly shaken, "You last night too...?"

That one word made Adrian chuckle lowly. Matilda caught a glimpse of his oceanic blue-green eyes and felt herself drowning in them.

Sinking bit by bit, until she was powerless.

Adrian pulled her tightly into his embrace, while Matilda struggled desperately, "Are you still drunk from last night?"
