A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 319

Todd adjusted his glasses and said with a hint of excitement, "The moment I saw her, I knew she had the vibe for the protagonist in our anthology series. Why not give it a shot?"

He assumed she was an industry insider. Matilda could only awkwardly wave her hands, "No, I'm just here with Chloe. I've never done a magazine shoot or anything. Wouldn't want to dive into it without any experience."

"That's the spirit of adventure I'm looking for!"

Todd called out, "Asuka! Asuka, come over and do Ms. Thompson's makeup! Let's take some test shots and see how they turn out!"

Before Matilda could even process what was happening, a person with long hair... was it a man... or a woman... burst out of the makeup room.

As soon as Asuka spoke, it was with an unmistakably bright and youthful voice, complementing the beauty mark under his double eyelids, "Hey there! You talking about this lady, Todd?"

"Exactly, take her for a makeup trial. I'll start shooting with Chloe in the meantime."

"Gotcha." Asuka snapped his fingers and said, "Follow me, goddess."

Matilda felt a bit embarrassed being called a goddess. Just as she was about to say something, Asuka turned back to ask Todd, "She's here for the cover story audition, right?"

"Sharp eye," Todd slapped his thigh. "I knew she was the right fit the moment I saw her! She's all yours."

With a smile and a reassurance, Asuka whisked Matilda into the makeup room, where she was greeted by an array of professional makeup equipment, including curling irons of all kinds and heaps of high-end makeup products scattered around the large mirrors.

"Did you wash your hair this morning?" Asuka inquired, feeling Matilda's hair.

A bit nervous, Matilda nodded.

"Victoria's Secret fragrance, isn't it? Amber Romance, to be precise."

"Spot on." Matilda was impressed by Asuka's accuracy, "You're really good."

"Thank you for the compliment, miss."
