A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 335

Chloe felt a chill run down her spine at Declan's words. It was a stark ultimatum: death or return.

Before she could muster a response, Logan, who had been quiet thus far, spoke up, his voice laced with a hint of amusement, “Why do you and Yvan always have to be so damn arrogant?”

Declan, caught off guard by the sudden interjection, snapped back to reality, his gaze sharp and menacing, “Kid, do you have any idea what you're getting yourself into?”

Moreover, Yvan was his father. How dare he address his dad by his full name as if he held no regard for him?

It dawned on Declan that during the time Matilda left, Yvan was a wreck, utterly devastated. Yet, here they were, having taken his son and living a carefree life elsewhere, completely oblivious to his suffering. Despite Yvan's countless pleas, there was never a moment of mercy.

Declan sneered at the memory. What had he been thinking about Chloe then?

The fleeting moment of joy he felt upon discovering she wasn't dead quickly evaporated, replaced by a sense of betrayal.

Chloe, the ingrate, dared to fake her own death! She dared to entertain thoughts of escape!

While he was tossing and turning over her, there she was, living it up in another city, as if she deserved his pity. She didn't deserve it, not one bit!

Pulled back from his reverie, Declan eyed Logan, seeing in the young boy not just Yvan's features but perhaps his fearless spirit too.

Yvan’s boldness and fearlessness seemed to have been wholly inherited by Logan.

Witnessing Declan's dangerous gaze fixated on Logan, Chloe feared the worst, that Declan, in a moment of impulse, might forget this was his brother's son and harm him. She shouted, “Let Logan go, I'll come with you…”
